All went to bigger/better clubs and probably on a lot more money. Townsend would have been a bench warmer at best. Maybe... but from reports in the summer we had offered terms and were very close to agreeing on some of them. My point being how the summer business could have been so much better/diff...

There's lots of reports Ings is West Ham's highest earner on £150,000 a week. Based on that, is it really realistic? I'm not sure West Ham would help us out that much!

I would rather we upgraded right back than got a new left back this window. Taylor is a very solid option at this level and can do a decent job for the second half of the season. A new right back would improve our side massively. However, we probably need a back up left back or need to start success...

Probably also worth commenting that there are actually better wingers than Manuel Benson out there. Same style of play, younger, better fitness and more ability - it’s up to the recruitment team to identify them.

You can only assume the option to buy will be based on Southampton winning promotion….in which case a fee like £20m won’t be an issue for them and will probably be money well spent if he helps get them promoted.

Must be another reason why VK gave him a contract extension! Good utility player and a good attitude. If that was a 3 performance then I’m not sure where that leaves AADs performances against Villa/Spurs at home!
