Re: steve davis
I was sad to see him go, but I understand why he left for the following reasons: 1. At the time, he was part of a successful team of coaches who he obviously enjoyed working with. 2. There was no guarantee the next manager would want to keep him as a coach. His loyalty could have seen him out of the...

Re: ARTICLE: O’Neill makes loan move to Oldham
I've been impressed with O'Neil when he has played this season. Maybe not quite up to the standard just yet, but him getting regular game time is excellent news for his development.

Not heard this one. would certainly be a surprise given we have secured westwood and that we weren't previously looking for a CM before Marney's injury.

I'm told £2.5m fee. Maybe there are add ons to that based on performance, but that's the number I have heard.

Re: Get that striker in SD
Taylor's journey does have a bit of Austin about it, but he's already 26. Quite the step up to make, not just in terms of ability but in terms of professionalism & fitness. Zac Clough could be a good acquisition. Needs to continue to play to develop though, not be a 4th choice striker. Would like to...

Re: Andrew Robertson
I think we'll definitely bring in at least one more player. There's definite interest in Robertson so this could definitely happen.
Marney's injury & Bamford leaving may force us to look at other positions though and push this back to the summer.

Very good going forward & he caught my eye.
If we're paying £10m for Hendrick & £13m for Brady, I think £14m for Van Aanholt is probably about right.

I've been trying to think of potential options for a striker and I am struggling to identify anyone who is available and affordable that is better than Bamford.

Heaton 7 - Calm & Collected. Lowton 7 - Defended well against tricky opposition. Keane 8 - Excellent positioning throughout Mee 9 - Just when people begin to question if Tarks should be given a go instead of Mee, he goes and puts in a performance like this. Against a team of international forwards h...

Worth signing Snodgrass just to ensure that he does't score against us. One of those players who always seems to.

Brady for me also.
Snodgrass is a super player, but he's nearly 30 & has had two pretty serious injuries.

Re: ARTICLE: The Brady link
To add, I find Sunderland's reported interest in Brady completely baffling after both Moyes & club representatives have said the club is in dire financial situation & there's no spare cash. Can't see Ellis Short spending so much and increasing the debt if he want to sell the club. Debt is not appeal...

Re: ARTICLE: The Brady link
If Norwich are going to try & hold out for £15m then I would expect this to go down to the wire. The pressure on them to compromise & sell will increase as every day passes and not bid of £15m appears. As for wages, according to the accounts in the Swiss Ramble for 14/15 (premier league season) our ...

Re: 48 team World Cup approved
Interesting to hear how those touting a international breakaway by England, Spain etc would feel about Manu U, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool joining up with Bayern, PSG, Juventus to form a closed European Super League. Or a new Premier League removing the unfashionable teams and replacing them with bi...

Re: Kamil Grosicki
Depends which way you look at it HMHB. Ultimately, blame lies with Grosicki getting into debt in the first place. However, as for the deal itself collapsing, it was Rennes who requested the money to clear the players debt, not the player. It's also Rennes who could have used a portion of the transfe...

" Begs a question why we allowed it to get so last minute but that is another debate. "
Maybe it was Rennes who allowed it to get so last minute. Not everything is Burnley FC's fault in an action involving another club/party.

Re: Kamil Grosicki
As mentioned earlier in the thread, the issue was more with the Club asking for more money late into the deal rather than the player having gambling debts, although it did raise concerns about his off field activities to run up such a debt & how he would cope with this whilst at the club. It happene...

Re: Kamil Grosicki
"if we pay 7m for him his 10% signing on fee will pay off his debts in one go. Problem solved." That was the problem before. We agreed the fee with Rennes & the contract with the player. The player refused to use his own finances to pay off his debt because he thought he had an agreement with Rennes...

I remember him being very good at Watford & Wigan. Looked out of his depth at United and has been okay at Everton. Good pedigree, experienced, still only 27. Think he could be a great signing for us.

"Very rare an unknown foreign manager comes in and saves a 'doomed' club from going down." I would say there are more examples of British managers going in and failing to save a doomed club from going down than foreigners. His nationality will play little part in his ability to keep a club up. They'...

Re: Kamil Grosicki
Huge difference between Barton & Grosicki. Quoonbeatz said the real reason, it was believed by the player that his debt would be paid by Rennes. They then tried to pass that over to us, despite having already agreeing a transfer fee (a portion of which they still could have used to pay off the debts...

I had stopped using CM some time ago because it became so annoying to use.
Well done to those who have set this up. It was much needed.
