It'd be nice to know why thing are or aren't reviewed. The danish handball I understand why it was looked at, as it was handball in the area, but it should never have been given. So why was that looked at at all and not the two England ones, Serbia or Sweden last night? Unless there is more than one...

No. They die. But they die in such a way that you only indirectly directly caused it, so it's better (for you) than hitting them with a shoe but worse for them.
It's like putting your goldfish in the canal. I'm sure, technically, it's not your fault if it dies. But it is.

I’m not at all sure that you have that right. Not about the 'more chance than mexico' thing, but I'm fairly sure on the others Korea beat Germany 1-0 Mexico beat Sweden 1-0 That leaves the head to heads like this; Korea 1-0 and 0-1 GD 0, GF 1 Sweden 1-0 and 1-2 GD 0, GF 2 Germany 2-1 and 0-1 GD 0, ...

Heh - so, Korea beat Germany 1-0, Mexico beat Sweden 1-0, all three teams on -1 GD with same goals scored and against - then Germany go through again in 2nd by scoring one more than Sweden.

So in that scenario:
Mexico (1-0, 0-1) GD 0 Scored 1
Sweden (1-2, 1-0) GD 0 Scored 2
Germany (0-1, 2-1) GD 0 Scored 2
Mexico out on goals scored?
Mexico (1-0, 0-1) GD 0 Scored 1
Sweden (1-2, 1-0) GD 0 Scored 2
Germany (0-1, 2-1) GD 0 Scored 2
Mexico out on goals scored?

So - hang on. If Sweden and Germany both win 1-0, then all three have scored 3, against 2, GD 1 - so Mexico go through because they beat Germany, Germany go through because they beat Sweden and Sweden go through because they beat Mexico....what then?

Re: World cup thread
When two teams have the same points, first the goal difference across their three group matches will be used and, if still tied, the number of goals scored will be taken into account. The head-to-head result only comes into play after that. So, a decent sweden win and a germany win knocks mexico ou...

There's no sending off when an honest attempt to play the ball results in a foul. Deliberate handball can never be considered honest; ergo red card.piston broke wrote:I wish they’d stop changing the laws.
I thought there was no sending off for DGSO, in the box, and the penalty became the GSO.

I'd want Burnley to get that penalty - the defenders boot landed on the back of the attackers leg. Winning the ball so slightly that it doesn't change direction or momentum doesn't forgive the 'tripping or attempt to trip an opponent' part of the law.

Turf Moor is nearer to St James Park but takes longer to get there than it does from Huddersfields ground to St James Park if going by car, rail or cycle.
It's only quicker if you are walking.
