Re: 7th last season cant be all down to luck surely ?
All playing at the peak of their abilities for sure, but boosted by the confidence of a few bits of fortune in early season - Chelsea imploding to get two men sent off, which gave us the platform (which we capitalised upon) to win at Stamford Bridge; a bit of fortune to escape with a point at Wembl...

Re: 7th last season cant be all down to luck surely ?
A comparison with last year is very interesting. We won 14 games. Assuming we probably need another 3 wins to stay up this year that would mean we are only 3 wins behind last season and I’m sure all of us could think of three games that, in reality we should have won. We only scored 36 goals last s...

Not really, just didn't realise how close we were points wise. As for staying up with ease, had we not beaten Stoke in the next home game we could have struggled and we still needed to get the away win at Palace.taio wrote:It sounds like you're just trying to convince yourself we will stay up with ease.

After the Brighton game we were two points in front of Cardiff but had 5 of the top 6 to play. They had four.
After today's game we'll still be at least two points in front of Cardiff but will have played Spurs and Liverpool.

Re: Next five games will define the season
The beauty, or otherwise, of football is that no one really knows what could happen. Doom mongers could see us losing our next three/four games and facing Cardiff knowing it's an absolute must win. And it does seem as if it's heading down to the Cardiff game unless we somehow manage to pick up 5/6 ...

Cardiff's next four games are Chelsea, man city, us and Liverpool. That's 3 defeats guaranteed at least. We have to play Liverpool, Chelsea, Leicester, Cardiff, Bournemouth and Wolves in the same period. You'd think we are going to be lucky to get any points if you listen to the doom mongers on here!
