I think Athers lad played against Lancs recently for Leeds Bradford Uni, alongside a lad with a future from Leyland, Kurtis Watson.

Yes he spent a fair time coaching the young lads at Liverpool, certainly one to watch for the future. A little more investment in the summer and I see Blackpool as a top six side.

We've played the last twenty years or so in the top two leagues and as far as I can recall only managed to get Jay Rod and McNeil into anything like seasoned campaigners. So I don't see anything will change overnight. Exciting times indeed Silky

Mind you CT it was worth the wait, Frank Casper was a great signing for us. Signing a player of his ilk would go down well this weekend. I expect Mr Pace will be a busy man.

Good job this board wasn't about in the 60's I don't think we paid money for a player from Alex Elder in 1959 to Frank Casper in 1967 😲 I've got faith in Mr Pace to come up with the goods.

Under the new regime, I would have expected they have understood what our failings have been regarding transfers under the previous ownership and look to not have a repeat show.

The next couple of weeks will need to see us improve our starting eleven, by at least three signings. It will also give us a clear indication as to where our board see us next season. Twenty one games left roughly twenty seven points needed. Hopefully yesterday's game is our Everton moment.

Our top three is a major worry, I can see Joe Root calling it a day as captain after the Ashes tour. Another thumping series loss might be a bridge too far for him. Knowing our system they'll probably burden Stokes with it. πŸ™

Hameed appears to be the in line, effectively still three openers who bat overs but don't seem to cash in. Mind you three openers worked on the 70/1 Ashes tour so you never know. Twice in fifty years is a good average. 😁

Yes, very unusual indeed. Looking back the board had some vision building two stands with no standing facility beneath. A massive change away from how the ground looked circa 1965/6 season.

I think they might mean purely a stand not a stand with the paddock underneath. I don't remember an all seater stand behind a goal before ours, however, as ever I'm open to correction. πŸ˜‰
