Re: ARTICLE: Dwight’s right for Everton
I wasn't claiming there should be. It's just some fans throw their toys out of the pram when a player chooses to be leave, hence the fact that so many players are booed when they return to their former club. Fair enough, sounded like you were one of those. I've never got that, unless they've moved ...

Re: ARTICLE: Dwight’s right for Everton
To put it simply. There's no loyalty in football. Why should there be? A very short career (10 years max, maybe a few more if you're lucky) so they have every right to maximise their earnings and play at the highest level they can. No different to the rest of the population. That might be upsetting...

Re: ARTICLE: Dwight’s right for Everton
Aren't we investing money back into players who are getting into the PL? Obviously we won't know until the season starts how good our business has been, but we're trying?

Re: ARTICLE: Dwight’s right for Everton
More concerned about where the money is going. Owners sold us a dream and the reality couldn’t be further from it. I strongly disagree they sold us a dream - they've never promised anything beyond doing their best for the club. It doesn't help some media outlets blowing our financial "mess" wildly ...

Re: ARTICLE: Dwight’s right for Everton
Probably be replaced by someone for a million. This leveraged buyout thing is working wonders for the bank balance. As is being discussed on another post - who cares about the fee if the player is good? Some of our best players in recent years cost nothing or peanuts. Would you rather we spunked £1...

Re: Do we have McNeil's replacement already
Why do we need to spend £21-27 million on 3 players? If we can get the same quality for less money isn't that preferable or wouldn't you accept that? Arfield was free, as was Heaton. Pope was £1 million Mee and Trips were about £1.4 million for the pair I think. Tarks was about £4 million, Keane £3...

Re: Do we have McNeil's replacement already
sufficient money should be spent on replacements to attempt to be competitive at the top of this league. Nobody expects us to spend £20m on 1 player. We need 2 or 3 in the £7m-9m bracket. Maybe - but a high fee does not guarantee you a good player, and a low fee does not guarantee you a bad player....

Re: Do we have McNeil's replacement already
As I recall we didn't sell all our saleable assets the last time we were relegated and from what I understand nether have Noewich or Wstford. Maybe you should get a grip - of some facts. I agree with the post above - our only sellable assets in summer 2015 were Trippier and Ings, who both left. Our...

Re: Do we have McNeil's replacement already
So we continue to sell the Crown Jewels. Anyone with a sale value is gone or going. 90 millions worth replaced by 10 millions worth. It isn't going to work. A Jamie Vardy is one in a million. Between them our previous owners and the new ones have sold us up the river. I don't blame Mike Garlick for...

Re: Do we have McNeil's replacement already
Considering VK’s system does not use wingers, this is not as much of a loss as it might be otherwise.

Re: Will you miss VAR this season?
Recent game against Australia featured two foward passes that were ignored. They just did not make a big deal of it in the analysis. There tends to be some chatter about interpretation around the break down and scrum. It really helps that they are broadcast and you can hear the thought process. Mos...

Re: Will you miss VAR this season?
No. There's a place for VAR if used correctly. There's no place for it when it's used by people who think it's more important than the game. The difference between rugby union VAR and rugby league VAR is interesting. Rugby union VAR will interfere on anything and everything, and the ref can't do an...

Re: As it stands now how many more players do we need?
I don't think we'll be going up if either Rodriguez or Barnes (especially him) are our first choice pairing (assuming VK plays a 442 like at Anderlecht)
Strikers x2
Winger x2 (whether Cornet goes or not - JBG counts as half)
LB (sorted)
GK (sorted?)
Possibly an experienced CB

Re: Open Training
Not me. Would be good to watch close range, to understand the pace (no pun intended), they work at as pro footballers. Not the same appreciation from a distance when on the Turf. I went to Tottenham's training ground on work experience a few days before the start of the 2009/10 season. You never fu...

Re: Club website
Yes, social media has more value than the club website. But if you are going to have a website it should be maintained in a professional manner shouldn't it? Websites might no longer be THE source of information from a club but I tell you what, if I was a potential sponsor/investor, part of the due...

Re: Club website
Perhaps to illustrate the social media vs website aspect - our Twitter account has nearly 700,000 followers (several tens of thousands added since Kompany joined). And the Instagram account has just under 500,000 followers. Both dwarf the population of Burnley, and probably it’s true fanbase, and li...

Re: Club website
Without wanting to accuse members of this site of being old so and sos, for my generation (35 and under) websites are generally obsolete in many spheres. Social media is king/queen and where the club gets its exposure. This also applies to fans overseas who perhaps missed the .com era but are fully ...

Palace end is sold out as well - don't really enjoy going in the home end though, especially when you can see a packed away stand. I'll keep my eyes peeled.

Unfortunately I didn't actually buy a ticket - I checked my purchase history and bank statement. I must have, for whatever reason, not pulled the trigger on the page or something silly.

Spare Palace ticket
Dear Clarets - you can imagine my horror when I wondered if my ticket for Palace had got lost in the post, and it turns out I didn't buy one (I 99.9% did). I live in London so don't get many chances to see the Clarets, and Palace is normally a banker for my calendar. Was very much looking forward to...

As a journalist myself, some of the questions are pathetically obvious and deserve to be treated with disdain.
First lesson in journo school - if you ask yes/no questions, you'll get yes/no answers.

Re: League Cup should be scrapped
I would have two solutions: either all clubs involved in European competition would not be eligible, or, to go further, all premier league teams would not be eligible, as technically, it is the Football League's trophy and PL teams are not members of the FL. I'm more in favour of the first option. T...

Re: Going to games alone
I grew up near Oxford, and aside from a few family members who live around Burnley, have never known any other Clarets. Since moving to London I've met a Burnley fan and we've been to a few games, but I've also been to a few London/southern games solo (Southampton, palace a few times, watford a few ...

Plenty to choose from, but for a game I was actually at, Andre Gray vs Palace. Secured PL safety for the first time at the third attempt.
