Re: Philippines
There are not that many airports in the Province so buses are your only option to see the places you want to go to. Obviously you can get a flight from Manila to a northen provincial airport which will save you a gruelling nine/ ten hour journey, but after that its buses Im afraid. Also Jeepneys onl...

I think you are doing the right thing heading north. Sagada is a fantastic place, proper Philippines as I like to call it. Not too far from Sagada are the beaches of Pagupud which are breathtaking and unspoilt. There is slso one of the largest ziplines in the world which travels over the sea. The na...

Re: Philippines
I would recommend moving north when you arrive in Manila. Google Baguio. A must see place visited mainly by the locals. Also Vigan, its like going back to 19th century Spain. You could try all the tourist spots but it will cost you.Regarding accommodation, be careful when you get out of Manila airpo...

I have a house in La Union in Luzon. The area has not been exploited with tourism and it is the most relaxing way of life. The locals are so welcoming, unlike Manila which is so claustrophobic. If I was to give you a comparison it would be like living in London or living in the Lake District( withou...

Bfc crazy. I know the Philippines fairly well. Its a fantastic country and fantastic people. I do have a few questions for you.
1) Are you travelling alone?
2) How long exactly are you staying?
3) What are your plans cor accommodation. eg. How much are you prepared to pay?

Thanks for that super dandies. I was trying to think of some decent pubs near Castlegate. There's a couple on Schoolhill also. Wordies and Triple Kirks. You're right about King st and Market st. Best avoided. But I still think Castlegate is a cop out.

There is a chain of chippies called the Ashvale. They are dotted allover Aberdeen and the surrounding areas. The nearest one to you will be on Great Western rd. Try the Ashvale Whale! A lot of people swear by the Dolphin chippie just off Union st towards Holburn st. Hope that helps Rowls.

Re: The Fittie Squares - Aberdeen
Cant emphasise how good Fittie village is. I havent seen a better example in Britain of a relatively untouched fishing village from that era. Even though I said avoid the pubs around the harbour, its still worth a look just to see the huge oil supply boats.

Rowls. If you go to Fittie, look for the Fittie Bar. Its a throwback of a pub. Would advise everyone to steer clear of pubs around the harbour, especially Regents Quay.

Shouldnt have any problems walking up to the ground. Busy city centre with lots of shoppers , but it is quite a hike from Jurys.(about 30mins)
Buses are easy enough if your not up for it. Every 10 mins from Union st.

It was because of a pitch invasion in the 1980 cup final between the Old Firm that alcohol was banned from football grounds in Scotland. You all saw what happened 2 years earlier on the Turf. Definately drink related. Scottish football had had enough.
