Burnley’s best kept secret

Burnley have signed Dutch midfielder Remco van der Schaaf on a free transfer after his release by Vitesse Arnhem. The 29-year-old has penned a three-year deal having turned down another offer from Cardiff. "He's a player we've been tracking for some time, we've had him watched and he will be a treme...

Re: Possession football

I too am a bit puzzled by the notion that Reading created more chances than us. They set up a team of giants with 10 behind the ball and doubled up on our wingers. Their keeper sauntered around for 90 minutes and used every time wasting tactic in the book. The referee only seemed to realise what was...

I expect to see a Reading mk2 game on Tuesday - a team of giants playing for a draw with 10 men behind the ball for the entire game. Yesterday I saw at first hand a younger, faster version of Barnes - playing in his second start against a team of giants who played with ten behind the ball. Ekdal and Robert’s will be rested.

TH-B to be eased back, Vitinho to provide a threat from right wing-back. JBG, Cullen and Brownhill in the engine room. Barnes, Zaroury and Tella up top.

Benson, Obafemi, Twine as super subs. Cork and Taylor to see out the game.

We’re averaging 2 goals/game, so with 17 more games to go it’s reasonable to expect another 34 goals. The jury is still out for Twine - for now he is living off two (fantastic) free-kicks. I would say that the early indications are that we will lose our first choice centre backs, but might be in with a shout for Tella and Maatsen.
