I spent the evening in a Pat Butchers themed cocktail bar 40th party in London listening to 70s/80s cheese

Not my usual cup of tea

El Medano near the airport is my favourite place on the island to stay. It's more Spanish than your usual resorts, but still plenty going on, and a cracking beach.

I lived in PDLA for a while about 20 years ago, but I would give that a miss nowadays.

I have the streaming version as I live in an apartment with no dish. It's a decent enough picture, says only HD but looks more like 4k on my LG OLED.

Obviously if Internet goes down it's not working, and I can't record/rewind etc on the box thing.

It's cheap though.

Worth looking at if you don't actually need a new handset at 50 quid a month

Try living in Germany. A lot of places, especially outside of big cities, are cash only, and if they do take cards it has to be a German EC card. No Visa or MasterCard.

I've been here since April and I've probably withdrawn more cash in that 9 months than I have in 20 years in the UK.

In the town I live in it's quite touristy, ergo pricey. 5ish € at the local local Brauhaus for their own (excellent) Helles.

In Frankfurt it varies from around 4 to 5 € for a big brewery pint of Binding/Radeburg/HB/Bitburger etc.

Still much cheaper than when I was living in Altrincham mind..
