Re: Burnley Football Club - first accounts under ALK
The flip side of this is that with the owners likely to be less risk averse than the predecessors if we do go down they may try to hang onto players that would get us to bounce back. Even with our midfield we have a mid table PL team, that much is clear, we were underperforming. Like Fulham with Mi...

Re: Burnley Football Club - first accounts under ALK
Accounts confirms to me what we have always suspected, relegation will be a disaster. A double hit of revenue loss (Tv rights & "significant chunk" of the loan) and a desperate attempt to sell anything of value to pay the wolf to stay away from our door.

I had heard that BFC had paid ALK "consultancy fees" though I am not sure when or if they are in these accounts. from BBC article: The accounts also state that following the end of the reporting period, Burnley advanced £10m to a "fellow group company" could this be the consultancy fees paid to ALK?

Not from any company in the BFC group. I've always puzzled whether directors acting in an executive role are required to be paid minimum wage. It wouldn't surprise me if Alan Pace isn't receiving remuneration at the ALK/Velocity Sports level. It may also be that, depending on how things develop, AP...

I agree with DiBraidio. This upturn in performances is down to the "group" and their excellent attitudes. Years of Dyche framework coaching is ingrained in the spine of that team, but they are letting the more creative players get on with being creative. MJ deserves credit for overseeing it and acti...

I don't think this is an amazing analogy as we certainly never had a great deal of cash in the lower leagues aside from a one off injection from BK which you have referred to and was long over due. I think the best you can say is it was a more level playing field which allowed different winning sty...

Interesting article. I do feel that the removal of a lot of the employees was not past or present performance related, but just that they wanted their own people in to implement the ALK vision for BFC. Now, that's all well and good, but by removing a lot of these people from the club, many of whom w...

Is it the job of the first team manager/coach to develop youth players? Pace must be patient because a rushed (and wrong) appointment would be a disaster. I've been wary of ALK since they came on the scene, and this has now convinced me they haven't a clue based on the timing of this decision and the lack of a clear candidate to replace Dyche. Re: Do we have a long-term coherent transfer policy
Prior to the window opening we were told we would be looking at loans (because we had no cash). No matter the outcome of Orsic transfer, we should have had 1 or 2 loans ready and lined up, not dependant of any of the Wood money as that was the scenario we were planning for. So no. I don't think we do.

Both Orsic & Weghorst would represent clever signings. Their ages mean many clubs would probably overlook them in preference for a younger more up and coming type with potential re-sale value rather than a player who's physically/technically not going to improve much.
