Re: usual arsenal love in
Yes I'm wrong but only because it was quite complex. Arsenal relegated. Then finished third in second Division, then fifth before war. First Division expanded to 22 teams in 1919 - It was Chelsea the victims of a betting controversy who retained their place despite being one of relegated teams - The...

Re: usual arsenal love in
They cheated relegation back in the post WWI days, but I would take great delight in them experiencing the drop, even more so given that a potential ESL club would then be plying their trade in the Championship, sadly I honestly can't see them going down, they struggled at periods last season, but ...

Sorry Bob Holness was the last to play Bond on radio before the film series which means there could have been x number before on radio, then there was the TV series.

I used to interview people about the BBC. Very mixed answers when asked if the license fee is value for money. Of course here in Wales S4C is a beneficiary of the license fee, and here where 80% of the population is first language Welsh - a Welsh language service, whether it's S4C, Radio Cymru or wh...

You'd probably have to do it league by league both for % of players and then managers, and also for current managers you'd have to go back at least 5 years and look at % from then as if most managers are retired players there'd be a lag. Just as an example if 15% BAME players in league two 18% in le...

Re: Match of the Day
One way to do it would be to sell of various BBC properties, break the BBC up, and keep BBC 1 and BBC 2 only. No adverts so ITV isn't put in trouble. So as an example The Natural History unit gets bought by Discovery Channel and they provide certain programming for BBC 2 - maybe a year after first b...

Agreed. Make it a level playing field. If you commercialize the BBC, advertising revenue for the other commercial broadcasters will plummet. If you want to get rid of the license fee you'd have to scrap the BBC completely or possibly make it a subscription service without advertising. Commercial br...

In other words - you can't just scrap the licence fee - you'd first have to restructure the whole system, ITV, Sky, the whole lot - as there as a complex interplay going on. Work out a new modern system, but you can't just scrap the license fee as it's not just the BBC who would be affected. Even if...
