Re: A message for Willie Irvine
I was at school in Blackburn (St. Mary’s College), in the late 50’s, early 60’s and although there was friendly rivalry between the fans it was not the intense hatred of later years. We even had the Rovers come and play a match when we had the opening of our floodlights. Thus Silkyskills had a pleas...

The winning of the First Division trophy at Man City in 1959. I travelled with my grandad in the back of my dad’s Burnley Express van. We had to leave it about a mile short of the ground because the crowd was so great. My grandad and I queued at several turnstiles which shut, until I spotted a child...

Yes, An End of Innocence is a great read, especially if you remember the period 1950-1970, or you wish to read about our greatest team who won the league and entered the European cup the following season. It also has great information about many other clubs who were in the First Division at that per...

I have just read this book which is recently released and enjoyed it very much. It is called “An End of Innocence” subtitled “ The Watershed Season of 1959/60” It covers the 1950’s then the season of our winning the First Division , then the 1960’s and to a lesser extent the 1970’s.
