Re: Andre Gray
There is one enormous element missing from Gray's game right now. Confidence. Most players are different when they have confidence but the difference in Gray was particularly stark last season. When he was confident and had the benefit of a goal or two behind him, his entire game was more refined. I...

Re: Steven Defour
"Defour has Ferguson to thank for a thoughtful letter but he is indebted to Dyche for a belated ticket to English football and reawakening his passion for the game. Even Turf Moor is part of the attraction. “It is really old-fashioned, English style, I love it. The manager said I had everything to w...

Re: Relegation
If we can get 9 points from those 7 games I'll be delighted. Very hard to predict how we'll go at this stage mind. There's a five games there that to some extent or another you'd say we'd be targeting points from. Bearing in mind the run of away games in February, you'd say we need to get at least a...

Re: Would you vote the same again?
Just playing along with what Keith wrote Jeez some people..typical of remoaners. I'm not a "remoaner". I'm someone who voted remain, thinks voting out was a mistake but we are where we are. Quoting facts about the economic implications of where we are isn't moaning. We have to make the best of it. ...

Re: Would you vote the same again?
It is pretty straightforward Dazzler. To be honest, if you don't understand it, you didn't pay enough attention to the potential consequences of Brexit when you voted out.Dazzler wrote:Can you re type it in plain English please

Re: Would you vote the same again?
One further point - it is also correct in theory that inflation can be good for government debt by reducing its real-terms value. However, if the tax base is decimated because the City of London loses passporting rights, then the amount of borrowing we will have to do to maintain the public infrastr...

Re: Would you vote the same again?
Whilst there are undoubtedly benefits of inflation, it has to be carefully managed if those benefits aren't to exceed the downsides. And it is very difficult to manage inflation when it is being driven by foreign currency fluctuations based on the perception the country's economy is not a good bet, ...

Re: Would you vote the same again?
I voted remain and I continue to believe that the country has made an error which will affect the wellbeing of everyone under the age of about 35 profoundly, and badly. Fortunately, the over-advertised potential immediate effects of Brexit haven't been as bad as some of the immediate (always OTT) th...

Re: After five games, what have we learnt to date?
Burnley - that a lack of pace through the side, but especially in wide areas, is a huge achilles heel. West Ham - a major change of home environment, going from an intimate ground to a vast bowl, takes a hell of a lot of getting used to. If the one about Burnley is so blindingly obvious and so well ...

Re: Your favourite promotion?
2014 for me.
Touch too young to fully experience 92, and there's something about winning automatic promotion not only comfortably, but completely unexpectedly. Watching a team grow through a season is rather special.

Re: John Guidetti
I can't remember whether he was fat or lean, fast or slow when he played for us - I remember him being a kid who had a stocky frame but was still obviously filling into it and like Quoon I remember his movement being smart. A quick watch of that Youtube video though suggests that whatever he once wa...

Re: John Guidetti
I think anyone judging Guidetti by how he performed (or didn't) for us on loan in 2010-11 is wasting their time personally. He was a kid of 18, he's now a man of 24. He's effectively a completely different player. Rodriguez didn't set the world alight in loans at Sterling or Barnsley. Any Southampto...

Re: John Guidetti
Interesting link. Accordingly to Soccerbase, he started only 12 league games for Celta Vigo last season, but made another 23 appearances from the bench, which suggests he couldn't quite break into their starting XI (although most of his starts seem to have come later in the season and like any playe...

"This took me by surprise but very pleasantly so. A huge Thank You to Tony, JDR, MDWat and Claretspice (the names are under "The Team"). CM was losing posters due to circumstances beyond Tony's control and I was seriously worried his magnificent work stretching back many years was in danger of dying...
