Not sure they are the best team we've played, but they certainly gave us a better game in that they worked on our weaknesses.Hibsclaret wrote: ↑Wed Oct 19, 2022 11:26 pmNo way that Brum team gets relegated. We do seem to be making the same defensive mistakes without learning from previous ones which a big concern. Even against Swansea & Coventry we gifted both teams easy opportunities to score at least one easy goal, which fortunately neither team took. Why don't you give some credit to the teams putt...

Re: Birmingham v Burnley match thread
Amazing that some folks are still moaning when we're unbeaten in 12, yes disappointing to lose another lead so late, but a decent point after winning our last 2 and keeps our run going. By all accounts we weren't at our best yet still came away with a useful point against a side in form. If you can...

Re: Dyche wanted
And how many years have we had a proper academy? Not very long. The point I am trying to make is that very few clubs can get a substantial number of players from academy to first team. A "proper academy" wouldn't guarantee us with any first-teamers. Our 4 loanees are good examples of this, not bad ...

Re: Birmingham v Burnley match thread
We get a reasonable draw against a Birmingham who played about as good as they can and we suddenly see some of the recently quiet Dyche sycophants appear who seem desperate for us to falter so they and criticise the current team. Its pretty sad and made even sadder that these were the kind of poste...

I'm well aware of that, but we don't know what really happened within the club about scouting talent like Keane etc and what budget he had etc. When we take into account the alarmingly high failure rate through the academy system.. What can we really expect? Could our academy produce anything likel...

Qpr's youth system has been better than anything at Burnley for years plus it's in a talent rich area. Dyche could only work with what he had but let's not forget the youth set up had to be rebuilt during his time here and even then it was always going to take years for PL/Championship quality play...

Is that 6 for the season for Costelloe? How many times have we seen players score for fun in the youth teams but not make it at first team level? Halil Dervişoğlu not even in the squad? Nothing "snarky" about this: Burnley's New Zealand striker Chris Wood has earned the dishonour of being caught offside more than any other player during the recent Premier League season. The 27-year-old was flagged offside 53 times in his 38 appearances, which was 15 more than second-placed Glenn Mu...

Re: Next Transfer Window
It is snarky. I did watch us play Swansea. In the Championship against a defence that would struggle for pace against even Wood, who is mobile but clearly not out and out quick. He'd have fitted in just fine. You're comparing your (unfair) recollection of Wood playing in a Sean Dyche system at a di...

He's an inferior version and we're talking about whether he'd fit into an inferior team playing at an inferior level. He scores 6 yard box goals, occupies defenders and makes good in-to-out runs in behind. It won't happen but if there was a chance of re-signing Wood in January, I'd take him in a he...

I don't agree with this at all. I think he'd be great in this system as a direct alternative to Jay. I like it when we win.
i like it when we play good football.
I don't think either will be anything like as regular if/when we go up, and it wouldn't take long before the knives come out.
I'm really enjoying the Championship at present.
