Re: Luton v Burnley Postponed
My cynical view is that this was known and fixed by the prem, to give us an uphill start. Except to many of us it seems that it is much to our advantage having an extra week for the squad to gel and work with VK. (and one less game before the transfer window closes and when we will have our full sq...

Re: RATE THE REF - Craig Pawson v Manchester City
I suppose you could say Pawson got the one big decision wrong by only issuing Zaroury with a yellow, it's a clear red, but generally no real issues. No. I think that in real time and from his position he couldn't really be sure that it was a clear red, so the yellow was correct at the time. On rvev...

Re: A team lacking in identity
Neither do I, I was talking about getting a result against city. I don't think that was Kompany's priority. The chances of us getting anything were very slim no matter who played, and with no game next week, he regarded it as a free hit in a highly competitive game against the best in the world. He...

I don't see 4 of them as being regular starters. (Maybe none of them).claretandy wrote: ↑Sat Aug 12, 2023 9:11 amMy view is that he saw it as a free hit, and used it to give some of the new players a run out, if he was serious about getting a result, muric, brownhill, cork, JBG and zaroury would have started.

I just hope Pace and VK know what they're doing. To be fair they do seem to judging by last season but I don't want us to end up in some John Bond situation again. I can't find any statistics to back this up, but I'm pretty sure that a large percentage of business in the transfer window usually occurs in the final 48 hours, and particularly the final 24 hours, because many deals rely on a sort of domino effect as one deal triggers another. How does either club or player know what will be classed as a good salary in potentially 3/4 years time though? Isn't that exactly the reason why it's a bit of a sticking point? No one knows how he might progress, what he might be worth, or how the transfer market might look, but obviously he will ...

Don't you think he might want some assurance that he'll be earning a certain salary? Wouldn't you? Indeed.I posted this yesterday. Then why do we pay 14-17 million for a position that was not a priority ? So, which goalkeeper would you have signed for less money who would be PL standard and also be a potential investment? A 2nd keeper was always a top priority. Let's just imagine that we stayed with the 3 keepers from last sea...

Would love to have seen it pre 1939, but as you say they've done an amazing job of reconstruction - much of it since the Communists left and Germany was reunited in 1989 / 90

However his record at the Oval is not so good and conditions there tend not to suit him, so I'm bit surprised that he gets the nod rather than the pacier Tongue. A good few Australians have shown a vulnerability to extreme pace in this series.

An alley is a generalised term, like a hot tub rather than a type of hot tub such as a jaccuzi. You wouldn't go to a party and throw some balls down the bowling ginnel.
