Re: Burnley Vs Liverpool - Match Thread
Started brightly and the early goal took the wind out of our sails. Their tactics have negated ours and they’ve been great but really need to stop these miskicks, mistakes, slips and weak play. Need to start the second half like it’s 0-0 and it’s a different game.

Attack is the best defence. Keep it as is with like for like subs. Don’t need to go all defensive, especially with how bad we’ve been defensively all season (although very good today - particularly O’Shea)

I personally would love to see more of the likes of Tresor, Redmond, Massengo, Ramsay, etc. for more than 5 minute cameos before throwing the towel in.

I do find it difficult to understand how, with so much appearing to go wrong at Man Utd, that they are only 3 points behind Spurs and 6 behind City.

To be fair he was a striker in a partnership with Isak at Dortmunds youth team so has some experience up there.spt_claret wrote: ↑Sat Dec 09, 2023 4:21 pmI'd honestly bring Larsen on up front. Some of the ground passes into amdouni have been perfect, and two excellent saves. He's looked calm and assured. This is liter...

Bloody hell what a goal. Out of nothing,Benson II? There's nothing else to go off though. You can only compare with the data you have. Again we sign players based on data from other leagues and how we expect it to compare. It's the only data we have without Muric getting a chance so it's the only c...

Great save there by Trafford. So what exactly is your argument? You realise we scout players base on data from different leagues right? It's not ...

Re: Match thread. Brighton away.
It’s purely about long ball accuracy. It’s an aspect of the game we miss as our build up tends to be very one dimensional. And has variables like pressure from the opposition on the player targeted by the pass, the passer, where the pass is made, whether it’s along the ground, in the air, the pace....

The stats were in a thread earlier in the season that got deleted. Don Muric had 49% accurate long balls last year, 35% in the opponents half, Traff is 32% and 21% respectively and wasn’t much different in league one either. Quite a significant difference. I suspect the stats on how many individual...

We must have a few wingers we can either sell or loan out and sign players in the areas we are desperately short. Right back, centre back (unless Ekdal is going to be fully fit) and centre forward (even if Foster comes back we need another) I'd say left back is probably more of a need than right ba...

He’s definitely learning. Performance has improved, we look more assured in defence (can’t really do much about individual lapses) but we really lack a goalscoring threat. I genuinely think if we had a 10+ goal scoring striker we would be doing a lot better than we currently are.

Away to Brighton who are a possession and skill based footballing side. Therefore I don’t see why O’Shea at right back is that big an issue given it shores us up defensively.
