Only disappointment for me is that Massengo isn't even on the bench.
Tonight was the perfect opportunity to see what he's about. I hope he's just injured.

I’m surprised that Rodriguez is bottom, in my mind he’s done a perfectly respectable job when asked to play and has scored a couple of goals. Nowhere near as good an option as Foster now at his age but that’s a very high bar to meet.

The confusing thing about Ramsey is that when he’s played in the middle (Man Utd and West Ham home games) he’s looked perfectly capable physically, but when he’s moved out wide, suddenly he looks very lightweight.

Everyone said at the time what an incredible decision it was to sack Eustace and appoint Rooney. Seemingly everyone with an interest in football could see what would happen apart from the owners. Now we've got Foster back for, hopefully, an extended run of games, direct balls in behind are going to play to our strengths. We could do with getting the most advanced wide man to run behind more frequently (JBL seems to the best of our current wingers at this) as well. It's great that we've got p...

A bit harsh imo. I feel the defensive shape, since shifting to a 4-4-2 off the ball structure, has improved significantly and we’ve looked far more solid than early season. Teams haven’t really been ripping us open (1st half vs Liverpool maybe an exception) which suggests the organisation, in gener...

you are very wrong bud, we might lose a few but that is very different from having a fire sale. All 3 goals highlighted the lack of intensity in winning the ball back. The first one Watkins ghosts past O’Shea with Berge or Brownhill both ambling back into the box failing to get any sort of challenge in. Some serious work needed on the training ground in terms of defensive shape, organisation,...

When we started signing players who do not match the intensity of their opponents - and tolerating that deficit: for all the furore over decisions, this was the story of Villa's second goal (Berge) and third (Tresor especially for a total absence of support to Taylor, but also Ramsey whose first to...

Jonny Evans signed for United. I’m pretty sure if that were ever an option available to him we wouldn’t have had a look in. He was also on £3m a year at Leicester and probably not looking to take big pay cut. Townsend may have been a better choice than Redmond as things have turned out. But Redmond...

Didn’t Jonny Evans sign that deal with Man United pretty quickly after leaving Leicester? Not sure he was available all summer. Disagree. We had no vote because what was left was ageing, OOC or wanted out (Tarks, Mee). Replacing that core with PL-ready, experienced players was impossible because, guess what, they’re a finite commodity and bloody expensive (we couldn’t afford to re-sign Tarks, Mee or Pope now, could we?).
