I found the socratic learning method quite powerful as a method of teaching. One could probe for prior misconceptions or misunderstandings then address those directly. Also created peer-peer cooperation in reaching solutions.

Looks to me like it can be mains powered (240v) or used with a portable battery pack. If you definitely want 12V out to a normal 13A UK 3 prong plug just buy a short 13Amp extension lead, cut the 13A plug off the end and attach the croc clips to the blue and brown wires of the striped back lead. You can then plug in your 3 pin plug to the socket.
