If the pay was decent, young people would jump at it in towns where opportunities for skilled and semi-skilled work are very low, especially if the pay was decent. Stoke had three consecutive top ten finishes in the PL after Pulis left. It’s not change of philosophy as such, more making the right decisions particularly in the transfer market. Something we patently haven’t done.

It does then beg the question why Dyche, hardly a manager prone to making changes, dropped him? And why the results started coming after he was dropped.

As we’ve seen this season, good shot stopping can sometimes cloud what the keeper is bringing to the table elsewhere.
