Re: If VK is made director of football who is our manager?
I would certainly bring in the above arrangement before sacking VK if it came to that. It feels it could strengthen us significantly. Even the greatest business minds often welcome challenge and an assurance process because they know it makes them better.

Re: The cost of playing out badly
We are seeing in the Liverpool United game examples of what I wrote above, that many teams get punished playing it out and it isn’t the reason why we are 2nd bottom. Looks like it may cost Liverpool the title.
I’m sure these managers all still believe in their approaches though.

Nobody has said that stats are annoying. They have their place. They’ve said they don’t like the way in which they are used inappropriately to support a poor judgement. You are the biggest example of this on the message board . Nonsense (my last post to this). Some stats are obscure, others are dir...

Re: The cost of playing out badly
One of the few well balanced posts on here, what I really like about this post is that it doesn’t mention any GKs, no narrative. Too many posters can’t see the wood from the trees when it comes to the GK position this season. There are bigger problems with this squad of players and management than ...

Re: Who's done enough to get a move?
We don’t know who would have Wout clauses but that seems less likely with younger players. The big danger is Leeds style relegation loans which leaves us in the doo doo. I would expect though that Amdouni, Tresor if signed, Berge and Odobert would go for £50m between them. Probably a small loss on t...

Only someone who hasn’t seen us play and has just looked up the stats after each game could come to the conclusion that our defending isn’t an issue. Stats can show when someone is right and someone else is wrong. Like with you in this case. We have conceded 42 from non set pieces. Chelsea have con...

Anyone know how many points we have given away by playing out at all costs. It feels like 20! I don’t remember us getting many goals to win points from doing it either. It feels we have become an embarrassment for being so inept at it. We have conceded 42 from open play, City have 23. So if the fig...

Interesting debate about Kompany and Dyche above, but it is harsh to call Everton a terrible team. They are TOP on expected goals scored from set pieces, near bottom on expected goals conceded. These stats show they do what is needed. Ugly but effective, as ever from Dyche. They would never go down....

He has improved, and credit for that, but the difference between who we tried to sign across the team and who we actually signed is a huge gulf. O’Shea epitomises that (it was only a yellow card for me today but he also got turned earlier by DCL badly). I’d say only Berge, Amdouni and Tresor fit the...

Won’t score it because I only saw about 60 of the minutes. From what I saw I would give 6s on the whole. Disagree with the red, thought Muric would have easily got the ball first. But that would be borderline and I thought Oliver had a good game. Made me wish other refs had taken his view on minimal contact not being a pen.

Far worse than any Trafford error because he wasn’t under any pressure, but just dallied for no reason and let DCL get the block in.

No. Must not lose. They will only drop with another points deduction and if that was 3-4 points we are close.
The main thing is we are playing well, have some resilience, and have a chance, even if the odds are against us.
