Only place we've been subjected to an attempted snatch of a bag, lots of young girls trying their luck, don't think they were Italian I agree food is excellent, but is far more expensive than Manchester, even in the squares away from the tourist spots. I believe it was the home fans who invaded the pitch and the police fired tear gas in to the home stands not just the pitch causing the panic and rush for the exits. Apparently a lot of the deaths were from suffocation due to the tear gas and not just the crush That's my take on it too, I saw repor...

There's an hourly direct train from Manchester Victoria to Newcastle, or you can go to Leeds and pick it up from there too. Best to have a fiddle and see what returns the cheapest fare. No rail strike planned, as yet for 22nd Oct.
Any ideas on best route, via Tod and Leeds or Manchester ? From Rossendale.
