Re: Andy Holt - Accrington Chairman
I like him. He's been a good chairman for Stanley and harks back to a simpler time. When tinpot local businessmen ran their local clubs and upset folk. There's something almost romantic about it, in today's corporately corrupt world with faceless, foreign owners.

Cracking film but a poor ending. When the truth is revealed about his brother, that should have been the ending. But, it was too similar to Sixth Sense and would have been right called out for it. So there is the superfluous scene were Paddy Considine gets the guy to stab him in a kind of assisted s...

Re: Price if a pint where you live
I know the price of everything goes up due to inflation etc. But I'd like to see the comparative prices from say, the 80's. I know football has risen well above its historic pricing, when a paper boy could get on the match with his wages. How much has alcohol risen in the same time?

It's The Premier League I'm afraid. It's not a place for the football purist. It has an inevitability that sucks the passion and enthusiasm out of your soul. I watched Blackburn v PNE on Friday night and it was a cracking game. The game flowed without every decision being micro analysed. End to end ...

Our style of play was good enough last season though wasn't it. It seems everyone on this thread wants a return to the austere pragmatism that most of us agree had gotten stale. I'm backing whatever VK does. I think eventually this plan, whatever it is will come good.

Plenty of bands go through line up changes. Oasis are a prime example of that. Depeche Mode, the Cure, Genesis the list goes on. Are you saying there is no worth to them once a change happens? Interesting point. It appears some bands can do it and some can't. I think some band members are so intrin...

If the "vast majority" of fans oppose it, presumably there will be a lot of empty seats on the day which will be the best way possible of getting the message across. The Blackburn/Accy accent is what described as rhotic. This means the R's are very prominent. Not very common in England. But common in Ireland and the USA. Can only presume it comes from the influx if Irish immigrants in the 1800's, as a previous poster pointed out. My Dad did the family tree thing...

The Blackburn/Accy accent is more or less the same. In fact I'd say the whole of Hyndburn is the same. The accent changes once you get past Baxenden, when it takes on a Rossendale twang. I can only presume Blackburn was a bit more accessible to Accy folk. And when you consider Oswaldtwistle is conti...
