One of ours went through a stage, for a couple of weeks, of climbing out of car seats. Not much we could do, except gluing their hands together, but child locks on both doors meant they couldn't climb out of the car.

I think the line should be drawn whenever a player dives, exaggerates or simulates in any way regardless of whether there was contact. The ref should be allowed to wave play on even if it was a foul. We get a lot every year. I use one or two (depending which way they are coming in) of the small plastic traps along the line they are walking on, then sprinkle poison outside where they are most active.

We have a mixture. Laminate in the hall, as it is easier to clean, and in a couple of rooms. Elsewhere we have carpets or tiles, depends on the look we are after.
