Re: James Trafford England call up
xG, xG differential and xG prevented/expected is good to look at for some trends - to try and use it as quantitive metric for deciding on goalkeepers ability with such small differences like that is a bit silly. The main football analytical advsiors such as DribLab tend to disagree. Also, when we l...

Re: James Trafford England call up
Two crucial points: 1. Fantastic for James, warm congratulations, reflects well on Burnley, and shows how well regarded he is, including by me, even if I would have chosen Muric this season. I have no doubts he is the number 1 heir apparent, should be for us and for England. Ahead of Ramsdale in due...

Re: ARTICLE: Muric back to fans’ acclaim
Glad he did well. I’m not questioning VK’s decision to make Trafford first choice, I’ve no doubt Trafford will become a top GK, but he did wait far too long to make a change in goal. Just as Muric was expected to bide his time, Trafford would also have accepted if he had been benched before. These ...

Re: Average Player Ratings
10 is Heaton at Old Trafford when we drew 0-0. Agreed. I would also argue Trafford at BHA was close. A 10 is when you walk away from a match knowing that keeper was never going to be beaten. But, I say again, Muric was excellent. Not match fit. Not match sharp. Pummelled by Toney. Exposed twice by ...

Interesting that ten posters gave Muric 10/10 on the ratings for the Brentford game. That's 'Out of this World' according to the guide there. Out of this World. Was Muric's performance really 'Out of this World'? A.9 is excellent and that is certainly a term I would use for it and the rating I gave...

As Colborn says, 4 of the top 6 have missed most of the season, and the games they played in we often lost so we can’t say it was apples and pears. We simply haven’t been able to get the right team out, partly by accident and partly by choice. It would be amusing if Muric gets in his 10 appearances ...

Re: Notts Forest: do you now have hope we will survive?
For me - this is the sliding doors moment. Had that goal stood, Forest were beaten. Foster would not had been sent off, and may not have had his subsequent issues and I'm certain he would have contributed to better performances following that game. We would ultimately have had a better start to the...

I hadn’t realised that while we play Forest, Liverpool will play Everton and could beat them at Goodison to win the league and relegate Everton at the same time. So Everton's FFP breach penalty will be set lower because they've incurred one before; on that basis Everton can presumably now spend what they like as their next breach would incur a 0 points deduction and the one after that a two point addition. That logic would certainly mirror Everton fan’s sen...

The age old question of club or country is doing the rounds on twitter. Re: Notts Forest: do you now have hope we will survive?
One point people need to remember about the disallowed goal against Forest back in September. There was 22 minutes played after the disallowed goal which was ample time for Forest to have scored an equalizer had the goal been allowed. The resulting kick-off instead of the offside free-kick would ch...

The whole point of these rules is so clubs with wealthy owners can’t blow others unfairly out of the water with director’s loans etc. As they are a bigger club with a bigger turnover than all of the bottom three, Forest (this season not last) are allowed to spend more in any event. So there should b...

Brentford goalkeeper (and Palaces) are the worst two in the EPL for conceding more than their expected goals (yes, James is 3rd bottom of that, via Opta). So that gives us hope. That and their injured defence.
