Re: Lancs T20 Quarter
Lancs have "kept this under their hat" and must have known that a clash was a likely outcome, both dates were fixed well in advance. Did they secretly hope to not qualify? A Liverpool back-up wicket should have been maintained, shabby treatment of members and supporters.

Re: Lancs T20 Quarter
As a regular spectator at The Riverside it will be nice to see the ground full for a change. 4 day matches normally attract "crowds" of 750 grumpy, old men. It's more like care in the community! I hope some tickets will be left over for local north easterners so that they/we can watch some quality, ...

Re: England v Australia 3rd Ashes Test
1. Dreadful umpiring decision, Stokes was clearly out LBW. 2. Dreadful refereeing decision in Rugby League final, St Helens denied a good try in the 5th minute by referee Hicks who arrogantly wouldn't go to the video technology. 3. Dreadful/ dubious penalty decision in 95th minute at Wolves. Where w...

Maybe, but what's your response to our current crisis, and how would you go about rebuilding for the next Ashes series? You've got to start somewhere. Get rid of the new one day competition, the daft 100 ball mongrel. Play good competitive 4 day county championship cricket throughout the season not...

Decent captaincy (eventually) from Root today, called the toss right, let his fast bowlers loose at the end after a mid-afternoon drift. Now needs to score some runs and help level the series.

A marvellous man and player though he missed a couple of penalties for N.Ireland (one against Ron Springett for England) which the folks "across the water" found unforgiveable. I fell in love with Burnley back in 1959 mainly due to Mac.

Somewhat worryingly, the failing batsmen don't seem too bothered and are assured of their places because there is little better in county cricket where games seldom go 4 days. Instant gratif...

Re: Eng Vs Ire Test match
In the chase for World Cup white ball slogging, we have forgotten how to play 4 day cricket and build an innings. The standard in county cricket is very low yet Yorkshire can easily slog 255 off 20 overs. None of their batters are however of test standard.
