Re: The Cleveland Indians
I used to work with a guy who played some serious ball as a catcher (not a wicket keeper). All of his fingers were crooked from being broken so often. They used to call catcher's gear 'The Tools of Ignorance', because you had to be stoopid to play the position, but 90% of baseball field managers are...

Also, in Brantford, Ontario, annually the local tribes are given a hunk of cheese and half a loaf of bread to every member. Something to do with paying homage to 'The Great White Mother'. Talk about out-of-date anachronisms.

Re: The Cleveland Indians
But 'Indians' aren't slaves. In this country, they have more rights than I have. For instance, they can commercially fish at any time of the year without a licence. Trying to correct past wrongs is one of the growth industries in Canada. (It used to be 'Immigration consultant'.)

The Cleveland Indians
Well, the Indians upset the Cub bandwagon last night, and, personally, I think they should be favourites in this series. But, when they came to Toronto to beat the Blue Jays, a "native activist" tried not just to stop them from wearing their Chief Wahoo patch, but to ban them from being called 'The ...

If you vote for a Green, then you're voting for a single-issue party. Politics go much deeper than that.

Not appearing in the top flight. This club was within a single goal of not existing at all. The next step would have been the Teasdales winding up the club and selling Turf Moor to the highest bidder. And you're dissatisfied now? Give me a break.

Re: Give me the Championship
Loyalty is its own reward. I have always loved my journey following BFC. Some have higher expectations than others. Funny how some remember last year as being a walk in the park. Nope. We won more games from counterattacks than by pure domination. Besides, where else would you find such "fellows wel...

If you did away with promotion/relegation, then you wouldn't get parachute payments OR the 200 million quid we're getting from Sky this year. Just don't expect miracles. The Big 4 are way, way ahead of us in financing. Just be patient. Stay in touch with each other. And NEVER stop yelling, "UP THE C...

The Champions League funds the Big 4. Get rid of that, and the playing field would be much more even. And who wants to see FC Copenhagen, anyhow?

Re: After five games, what have we learnt to date?
Sorry, ewanrob. My heart won't let me support any other team (except a non-league minnow, that's no threat to BFC) at this stage of my life, or ever. That's why I chose an English league team in the first place. No chance of being taken over by Croatian knuckle-draggers. Nobody was going to make me ...

Re: After five games, what have we learnt to date?
Agree on the January investment thing. Not sure about the rest. If we became, say, Southampton, we wouldn't have the same kind of supporters or ground, and, for me, that means everything.

Re: Next Manager
If Defour had scored with his header, it would have been a different game. Sitting back against Liverpool worked because we scored with our first two chances on the counter-attack, and Liverpool don't have any big target men. Horses for courses

You also just play Andre by himself as a front runner. He's a great finisher, but generally poor when he's on the ball.

I also wish that Tom Heaton would take greater command of his goal crease. That first goal was dying for a punch from the keeper.

Re: After five games, what have we learnt to date?
I agree with that "flanks" comment. Hate to say it, but Scotty Arfield is out of his depth at this level. I think that George Boyd is done, too. Lowton real;ly struggled Saturday, although I think that Leicester have made a marvellous signing. Ward I would keep for now, although if you want to send ...

Sorry. My mistake again. But the point is, Trump DOES, have an important message, and he's doing it the only way the people that he's preaching to understand. The U.S. does need a permanent 3rd party, but I don't think that Trump is the man to lead it.

The first thing Hitler did was appease the unions (read the working class). How could a fascist party be called socialist? Hitler was the master of "The Big Lie" and of symbolism (the Nuremburg Rallies). Do you see any similarities?

Re: Donald Trump
What Trump is, really, is an undercover agent for the Democrats (much like Keane was with the B******s). He has given the redneck element a real voice (the ones who always voted against their self-interests). The Republican base was wealthy, corporate types and poor, white, under-educated people who...
