He was moving in the direction of goal anticipating a cross, Trafford comes in to the attackers space Have you actually watched it? “He was moving in the direction of goal anticipating a cross” No he wasn’t. The thing is he doesn't have to, it's a tactical block he doesn't have to move out of the way it's his space as much as it is Trafford's.
But he makes a deliberate move into that space with one intention only. Tho block Trafford from getting to the ball. No other reason.

Re: Ref watch on Sky

He went down easily because he'd misjudged the flight of the ball, it was so obvious he was no where near it. If he made a genuine attempt to get the ball and the player fouled him VAR would have stepped in. Trafford had not misjudged the flight of the ball. His eyes were on it the whole way. He ha...

Also mentioned on Ref Watch was the opinion of Shay Given ( goalkeeper) who thought it was keeper error and not a free kick

Just for balance of course
Also mentioned by Danny Murphy, if that had happened to Shay Given, he’d be the first demanding a foul.

But the on field referee hasn't seen all angles.
Correct, we go with the refs best guess, from one angle. Even If that one angle suggests it might not be a foul, but 4 other angles suggest it is a foul, therefore an error. But no, we go with our mate.

Blocking someone is not against the rules Stalban.

As PGMOL explained, it was a coming together of two players.
I’s that the same has the coming together in the Man U v Wolves game, the one Howard Webb had to apologise for?

Or the Tarkowski one that got a goal disallowed?

Loads of thing's to think about:
1) if no VAR - it's a goal
Not it’s that straight forward. The ref might not have been sure so hoped that VAR would sort it out.

Or without VAR, he could’ve backed himself more and disallowed the goal.
