Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
Lots of people talking about three at the back but there's no way Kompany will suddenly switch to a new system after having the season we did last time, especially when he played in a back four for virtually his entire club career. Either he's going to play a CB in a different position or someone wi...

I'm a bit worried about Trafford give how badly Bazanu got on at Southampton. Hopefully Muric stays and there can be some healthy competition between them.

That being said, he will limit us at premier league level in a Kompany side, he just does not have enough mastery in any one area. He is a jack of all trades in the nicest possible way. Which I think is fine in a good system. You could say the same about Milner, Henderson, Mason Mount... or even So...

"I'm told they don't really want to sell him to Burnley. So, unless Burnley can force them to reconsider that passage of thought, I think he's more likely to remain at Saints."
So Saints don't really want to sell him. Hardly news is it? Still a good chance he ends up here imo.

They'll have all the possession but with Zaroury and Tella playing (and maybe a Benson cameo) we should have more chances than we did under Dyche. We can score a goal or two and who knows, that might be enough.

I wouldn't have thought THB or Maatsen will be available for transfer. The next step for City/Chelsea will be to give them a loan in the PL to see whether they're up to it. I reckon Southampton will want to give Tella a go in the first team squad so he's probably off the cards unless they get relega...

The problem with Dwight is nobody knows what his best position is. Playing on the left worked at first but defenders worked him out. We don't create enough chances for the amount of possession we have. It's a bit sterile at times. We need a creator further up the pitch, either Twine operating as number 10 or Dervisoglu as a striker coming deep. I think we'll come good but the setup isn't quite right yet.

One interesting thing from yesterday was we only had 0.49 xg compared to 1.06 for Luton. One factor is that clubs don't want to get stuck with a Mezut Ozil or Gareth Bale ie. an ageing player on huge wages who you can't get rid of. So players in their late twenties/early thirties aren't getting offered the big contracts they want.

Not exactly horrible but outclassed in the first half, pressed hard and physically dominated. But even then you could see what we were trying to do, we just didn't get enough time and space on the ball. We kept going and came back into it when Watford dropped off a bit.

I put 95% of the blame on recruitment and barely 5% on Dyche. No other manager would do any better with our limited, ageing, slow squad. He should stay until the end of the season. Great signing. From what I can tell he's pacy, works hard and is a decent finisher - perfect for this team.
Presumably he'll start on the right but I wonder if he'll get a chance up front at some point. Barnes and JRod look done so maybe you could play him behind Wood.
