On Heron, not mentioned in that documentary, was the fact that when they recorded their original album outside the mics didn't pick up the outside sounds, like bird singing, therefore they had to record that separately and add it on in the studio! I think I read that on the CD notes.

It depends on the situation whether you've got family, you hardly have freedom anyway if you have bills & mouths to feed or tied to a dead end job you despise but need to continue with.
