Re: The club's nicknames
In my 1970 Tiger Book of Soccer Stars there's a pic of the team with the heading "Turfites" "Clarets" was never really a nickname. We used to sing "come on you clarets" and other songs with the word claret in them but that was just because of the colour of the shirts in the same way that Manu fans ...

Re: BENSON
Nothing I’d heard but it was very quick. Both looked decent in the u23s last season but interestingly we’ve released one right back (Senior) and let two more go out on loan (Cooney & Cropper). Maybe they have high hopes for Elva-Fountaine who has just signed. Ok thanks. Yes, he seems to be the man ...

CT, you seem to be getting this a bit wrong, i said another L2 loan would be aiming low., not you. And i'm not suggesting otherwise. I get where both you & Tony are on this one, L2 is ok for a 1st loan but we need to be a bit more ambitious for our young players sometimes, for both their & the foot...

Re: Burnley in crisis
It’s disappointing to see our transfer strategy change in recent years, we were doing so well with a conveyor belt of talent ready to be sold on when the time is right, the last couple of years it’s been largely signing players without resale value. Where’s the next Tarkowski for when we sell Tarko...

I don't disagree with this but am wondering whether there has been a bit of a change of strategy. We're seeing (at least that's how it feels to me) a lot of players come in at development squad level and I wonder whether this is the area we're focusing on for profits. That was a main part of Mike R...

Weren't we previously linked with Bogle from Derby? Sky sports reporting Sheff Utd have had a £15m bid accepted for him and another lad called Lowe. I have no doubt SD shares the great Brian Clough philosophy of "if the opposition don't score , then they can't beat us". The team has often found a way to win despite less possession.
