Think the more relevant part was the timeframe for replacing. I've googled, found none. You mentioned being instantly replaced - no one else has. It’s a bit hard to have a contingency plan for a striker leaving without any notice at any point during a long term contract. No club, Burnley or otherwise, can turn around a replacement Number 9 immediately. Things aren’t that simple. Any player can slip on the ice/ fall down stairs etc and be out...

Whoever we sign will need a few weeks to understand our system and get Dyche-fit before going out on the grass. We need to not get cut adrift for the next month or so before getting up to full speed. Wood leaving means a change and that's what we need

Our whole play is built around crosses and long balls over the top. It's not going to change overnight. For this season at least we need a striker who can win the ball and hold play up.
