It wouldn't surprise me. Must be way down in centre back pecking order now.

Re: Beyer
Would be a shame to not see Beyer and esteve as a pairing.
Re: Beyer
I personally think we should get rid if someone really offers 15 million for him. Never fit and I'm not really sure if he's good enough for PL anyway. Esteve and O'Shea should do a job in Championship anyway.

Re: Beyer
The one thing missing from this story is whose instigation this would come with. Do we want rid, or does the player? We are well stocked in that position, other players have developed, if we go down, and if selling Jordan means we don’t have to sell Koleosho (taking an example) then it could be us behind it.
Re: Beyer
His injury record is a concern but he was a class act in the Championship last season. I’d be interested to see how many goals we scored as a result from him breaking the opponent’s attacking line on one of his dribbles from centre half.

I was told recently that the player wants out. The person who told me said why but he’s not someone I know so wouldn’t know if it was the case.CrosspoolClarets wrote: ↑Sun Apr 28, 2024 4:44 pmThe one thing missing from this story is whose instigation this would come with. In that instance, the question then becomes whether that is because he knows he wouldn’t be starting? Which would be understandable.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sun Apr 28, 2024 4:48 pmI was told recently that the player wants out. Managing a Premier League squad must be like the wild west, egos, opinions, stories, leaks, drama, behaviour - it must all go on and must make a manager's job a nightmare. At times I also sympathise with the player’s perspective.
Unrelated - a meniscus tear depending on where it is can be repaired or has to be simply cut out, if the latter the knee may not be the same, well, certainly won’t be by definition. Adds a further risk to Jordan’s already iffy fitness profile, but of course the club will know the exact nature of the operation he had.

Re: Beyer
Have to say, I’m really disappointed in this news, I think he’s a cracking player.
In some ways, better than what we have for the Championship where we’ll need our central defenders to progress in to midfield.
I also find it strange as Kompany has never struck me as the type of person that would rush players back and if he ever said he didn’t feel ready I can I’m
Having said that though, I haven’t seen much from him
on social media either supporting the team or anything else, plus it’d explain why he has not come back this season after Kompany said he would.
A very disappointing end to his time here if that’s true.

Re: Beyer
I'm a Beyer fan but if we could get a fee around the £15m mark I'd be open to seeing him go.
O'Shea and Esteve have established a nice partnership that looks to have some longevity to it, and the goals against column has come down a bit over the last 8 games or so.
I always note with the Beyer debate though that a few posters would like to see him given a go at right back. If we has to stay, it might be interesting to see if could do that.

You can more than likely file that alongside Muric and the Kosovan mafia.

Re: Beyer
I suspect if we can get our money back for Beyer then he will be gone. Not really worked out this season and if he wants out then let him go. O’Shea and Esteve will be fine in championship and we’d more than likely bring in decent centre half that nobody has ever heard of.

Re: Beyer
My thoughts are that if he wants to leave and we can get our money back or make a slight profit then we should allow him to go.
First, he apparently wants to leave.
Secondly, I think because of his tackle technique, I believe he will continue to be dogged by injuries.
Thirdly, he may not make a complete recovery.
Whatever happens I wish him the best.

Probably about right. With the amount of wasted money we've paid for players this season, we're going to have to sell a few you'd have thought.Nonayforever wrote: ↑Sun Apr 28, 2024 5:47 pmI would imagine every player is available for sale if the price is right.

Re: Beyer
We haven't seen enough of him at this level, he had a few dodgy moments at the start of the season.
He was excellent in a possession based team at Championship level but we are never going to dominate games to the same extent in the Premier League. Our centre halves need to be comfortable on the ball but the priority at present is the ability to defend against Premier League quality players.

Re: Beyer
I still see him in the Rodri role for us.
As regards keeping a big squad happy it's our own fault. We signed too many players/wingers. If we go down it's a big worry. I am convinced VK pizzed about with playing people like Ramsey when they clearly weren't ready imo to keep them happy.

Re: Beyer
Oh god yeah rumour mill is always in full flow around the turf before a match day but between Beyer and kompany having a disagreement to muric being part of the mafia hahaha I think I’d lean towards one being closer to the truth.
Hope it’s not true, if Beyer is to leave, if we kept hold of Delcroix, Ekdal, esteve and O’Shea with al-dakhil and McNally still around to, I think that’s pretty good for the championship

Re: Beyer
One thing, if Beyer is being quoted at 15m after not having the greatest season, means he’s got enough credibility in the bank from last season. Based on that we should still be able to offload Tresor for decent money and Trafford
Re: Beyer
A number of our players - in fact most - have had to adapt to the EPL playing the way they are told to play and some have done it now albeit too late. Example is Cullen. O' Shea maybe. But for Esteve to come in mid season in a new country into a struggling team in a tough league and adapt as well as he has is incredible. His fellow French man isn't far behind either. I think Beyer could also adapt. He is a very good footballer.

Re: Beyer
We have 3 saleable centre backs, and if we need to cash in on one to raise cash (as we will on relegation) I'd be minded to sell Beyer and look to retain Esteve and O'Shea. Better players, and in particular just stronger lads who deal with physicality better. I was a fan of Beyer last season and his potential is undoubted but he was an absolute bean pole at the start of last season and even though he did quite a bit of conditioning after joining us, the last time we saw him he was still filling out.
Re: Beyer
When he's fit he's one of the player you build the team around. A lot of fans wanted to sign THB on permanently but Beyer was a class above anything we saw from THB last season. That's not a dig at THB either - Beyer just made the Championship look easy. If we keep him I'd be tempted to play Esteve and O'Shea either side of Beyer in a back 3. That'd be a hell of a back 3, with Delcroix, Ekdal and Al Dakhil in reserve.

Re: Beyer
Ignoring the fact we don't know what division we'll be in come August.
If we can keep the vast majority of the squad together, it'll be the first time VK has had a full pre season with a squad to work with. The thought of being more flexible with the option of switching to a 3-5-2 (as mentioned above) and having time to drill the players on this formation will be massive for the coaching staff.

Re: Beyer
Big fan of Beyer. Think he got hung out to dry a little bit being right footed having to play LCB in the PL and got exposed. Wasn't until we got a strong left-footed LCB (Esteve) things got better defensively, but by then he was injured. Would love to see him and Esteve together.
We will need to off load some CBs this Summer, be interesting to see who goes.

Take away sentiment, massive gulf between championship and the PL. Beyer doesn’t have the physical fitness to be a PL regular and looked to be targeted when in possession at this level. Sell for me.

Think he’s a very good centre half. Only 23 years old fingers crossed he can have a good pre season and put his injury issues behind him.
