Phoenix Nights was probably the worst thing Peter Kay did.

Phoenix Nights On a par with the comedy greats.
Great characters, one-liners, dead pan black comedy.
Even the intro music was memorable.

Comedy is in the eyebeholder what one persron finds funny others find cringeworthy.I cant stand Ricky Gervais and Romesh Ragenation and most American comedy is painfull to watch
Peter Kays observations in his stand up shows are hilarious as is some of his other straight work.

Up there with the all time great tv comedies is Phoenix nights . The characters ( good few of em Kay) were fantastic and a top supporting cast , many of the gags are brilliant.
Loved the episode where Jerry had to rescue Brian from his stairlift at his house . Later at the club Ray says “ good to see you back Mr Potter you must of sh1t yourself “ -Brian ( looking at Jerry) “ well thank you big mouth. “

Phoenix nights was outstanding.

And proof of that is how it hasnt aged a bit. Still hilarious now nearly 20 years on. Quite how its as old as it is Ive no idea.

Especially funny to anyone from up this way. Or of certain generations.

At the time when he only did two series i was gutted. But again thats genius as its literally 12 incredible episodes and not a bad one.
