Binary Scorelines
Binary Scorelines
Would we prefer to be on the wrong side of a 1-0 on Saturday or would we like to see more than one goal scored. I think I'd prefer a 3-2 defeat and actually us score more than once at Turf Moor. I think we've only done this once in the PL at home all season.

3-2 can still be a binary scoreline, it’s 11-10.Blackrod wrote:Would we prefer to be on the wrong side of a 1-0 on Saturday or would we like to see more than one goal scored. You're not allowed to treat score lines as binary any more.

I think it depends what team turns up, if it's the shambles we saw at Palace and home to Spurs then we'll likely get beat by a few, if we see a similar performance to the one against United at Old Trafford you never know what could happen
Re: Binary Scorelines
3-2 has to be a better result than 1-0 -- same goal difference but better goals for.

Shambles? You really haven't been watching us very long, have you. Are you sure you don't mean "disappointing performance"?KRBFC wrote:I think it depends what team turns up, if it's the shambles we saw at Palace and home to Spurs then we'll likely get beat by a few, if we see a similar performance to the one against United at Old Trafford you never know what could happen

I thought we were shambolic given the high standard set this season.dsr wrote:Shambles? You really haven't been watching us very long, have you. Are you sure you don't mean "disappointing performance"?
Re: Binary Scorelines
So you really mean "below par".KRBFC wrote:I thought we were shambolic given the high standard set this season.
Re: Binary Scorelines
You really gonna question the word I use to describe a ''below par'' ''disappointing'' performance? So weird and petty. How old are you? Can you please send over a list of words I'm allowed to use, pathetic really.....dsr wrote:So you really mean "below par".
OOOOPS I SAID PATHETIC, quick, tell me off

Re: Binary Scorelines
If we score ten and still lose there will be some interesting questions to ask.

Re: Binary Scorelines
To guarantee we offend everybody, we should just get humped 8-0
Re: Binary Scorelines
You've fallen for this one before. What I said was that shambles is the wrong word to use for recent performances. I did not say you're not allowed to use it.KRBFC wrote:You really gonna question the word I use to describe a ''below par'' ''disappointing'' performance? So weird and petty. How old are you? Re: Binary Scorelines
Do you remember the last time we lost the first three games of the year - 1987? The first of those was home to Rochdale, who hadn't won an away game in the whole of 2006. It was 0-3. The third goal was when Neenan rushed 15 yards out of his area to hack the ball clear, and missed it. It's the only time I remember people in the Longside laughing at a goal Burnley conceded. Bitter laughter maybe, but still laughter.
That was a shambles. Does 0-3 against Tottenham deserve the same insult as 0-3 against Rochdale? It's a matter of opinions. But my own opinion is that the Tottenham game was not at the same level of appalling as the Rochdale game. Rochdale = shambles, Spurs = below par.

I wasn't born in 1987 so I can't comment, I don't know why you're trying to argue over nothing.....dsr wrote:Do you remember the last time we lost the first three games of the year - 1987? Re: Binary Scorelines
I think it's because your constant negativity gets me down. There are few if any posters on here less happy than you are with Burnley Football Club.KRBFC wrote:I wasn't born in 1987 so I can't comment, I don't know why you're trying to argue over nothing.....
Re: Binary Scorelines
I'm not being negative, I said it depends which team turns up because we've been patchy of late with all the injuries. I said if we turn up like we did against them at OT then you never know what could happen, how is that deemed negative? or are you purposely ignoring that to argue over nothing?dsr wrote:I think it's because your constant negativity gets me down. Re: Binary Scorelines
All it is, is that you think "shambles" is an appropriate way to describe some of BFC's performances, I don't. Don't read any more in than that.
Re: Binary Scorelines
To describe a game in which you have as many shots on target as the opposition, more possession, 2 golden chances to equalise in the second half and to only lose 1-0 as a "shambles" tells you everything you need to know about the poster using that description.

Re: Binary Scorelines
The Spurs game was hardly a shambles. Granted, they were given a goal start by some slack defending and even poorer refereeing and then proceeded to outplay us. Their skill and speed did for us, as it would have for quite a few teams that day.
