Newcastle will probably be linked later, they've been linked with most half decent players.

Makes it all the more amusing when you look at what we've spent and got promoted 3 times compared to their efforts in the same time.IanMcL wrote:Who cares about sound financial management? Not Derby, that's for sure.

Re: Henri Lansbury
So apparently Rotherham striker Dexter Blackstock is the man to speak too about negotiating a transfer for Lansbury..

Now there's a good name - Dexter Blackstock.
He could be a Hollywood actor, or a foreign correspondent for the BBC with that name.

40k plus seems the going rate.
If we want to stay in this league we will have to pay the right wages. I have no doubt that there will be players at 5 or 6 championship clubs on 40K p/w

Re: Henri Lansbury
This is madness, Blackstock is not a registered agent. I believe that registered players are not allowed to be agents at the same time. But one thing I'm not sure about: is it compulsory that every player has to have an agent now? Can they not negotiate their own deals?

They can negotiate their own deals, but they've either been duped into thinking agents are the best option or they're too daft to do it so agents are the best option.

Or they realise that their time is better spent concentrating on their performances on-the-pitch, so they're happy to pay someone else to look after the off-the-pitch distractions.Sidney1st wrote:They can negotiate their own deals, but they've either been duped into thinking agents are the best option or they're too daft to do it so agents are the best option.
Haven't the top players always had someone looking after their interests like that? Either a family member, a lawyer or just a smarter mate? Isn't it the same in just about every other entertainment industry, or do we all think Tom Cruise, Adele et al thrash out their film deals/recording contracts personally with the head of Sony ?

Re: Henri Lansbury
I think the ship very definitely sailed in August 2015 when Fawaz pulled his stunt with Lansbury at the Turf ready to sign. We didn't go near them in the last two windows after that and I doubt we were one of the clubs interested this window.ClaretAndJew wrote:Close it. The S.S Lansbury has sailed.

Can you imagine the queue for the hair dryer with Lansbury, Hendrick and Boyd in the same dressing room.
It would never have worked.

Re: Henri Lansbury
Am I the only one who thinks 3 million is a steal in this day and age. We have Barton till the end of the season and then we need an upgrade on him (unless he gets another 12 months) and Marney in my opinion. This is a low fee for a player of his age.
Re: Henri Lansbury
40K week is not a steal and I'm not sure he's good enough for the Premier League.

Re: Henri Lansbury
£40k a week for someone who has played in a struggling championship team for most of his career is a big risk.
The fee is low because of him being out of contract shortly - and this also helps Villa offer a higher wage.
Dyche obviously thought he was good enough but I would be surprised if we were going to pay £40k a week - but maybe we were ?
Villa gonna be in big trouble if they don't go up in next couple of years

One day in the far and distant future, there will be nuclear armageddon.
As civilisation as we know it fades from existance, somewhere the last vestiges of power flicker, and briefly illuminate a screen.
No one is there to see it, but the words "Lansbury deal falls through" momentarily appear.
