My point about his size is that he's not going to be able to rely on brute strength to see him through the remainder of his career. He'll need to retain the attributes that have seen him have a good career at a high level. I'm not saying he won't, just that it's a big ask, particularly whilst also trying to adapt to a new country/league.
Some fair points, AG, although in fairness, its worth noting that about the shortest centre half I've seen at Burnley was Frank Sinclair who, in his mid-30s, retained an incredible natural spring to out jump far taller opponents, and was also one of the most physically robust defenders I've seen.

I've not seen this player (or not noticed him, anyway) and wouldn't claim any great expertise about Japanese footballers generally, but I always had them down as being very robust and springy for their shorter stature.

I do agree it looks like a slightly odd risky signing in many respects mind. Not sure this window is going quite as I hoped at this point.

We should definitely sign somebody Japanese. It's the next step for an aspirational Prem newcomer.

Simply not true, not said a bad word about Lansbury, Stephens, Grosicki or any of SD's signings this season, infact I've defended them all on here to others.

I would be ABSOLUTELY amazed if this were to happen. His fiance here is stating how excited she is to go and live in Milan - would love to be a fly on the wall when he says "actually, sweetheart, were moving to Burnley (in all likelihood the Ribble Valley)"

No chance

How many of the current squad do you think actually live in Burnley or the Ribble Valley?

Maybe when he tells his Mrs they can go live in Manchester, she may have a different reaction?

Ward and Boyd are both older than him, so any talk of him being too old is nonsense. He's younger than Marney and Barton as well. Same age as Heaton. We're at a point where we need players capable of playing at PL level and with relevant experience to back it up. If this lad signs for 5 million and becomes a good player for us over the next couple of years it's money well spent. It's about survival at the moment. That's the most important thing. If Sean thinks he can help us achieve that then I'll be 100% behind his signing!

Age affects everyone differently, the point isn't just about his age more about his ability. His injury record isn't great, he was a regular player for Inter up until 3 years ago, why is he no longer a regular? Inter aren't the same side they have been previously, both the Milan clubs aren't the clubs they once were, I can't remember the last time either of them were in the Champions League. The PL is far more demanding than the Serie A, he probably speaks no English and would need time to settle and he's 30 years old. Why is Ansaldi ahead of him? under numerous managers he hasn't been a regular. Do you really think if he was still the same player who was a regular for Inter we'd have any chance of getting him? the answer is no. I think the funds would be better spent elsewhere..... Here's an article from 2 years ago.

Looking a no is this. Sunderland interested. Player himself doesn't want to leave along with a wedding coming up in a few month.

Boden said he's spoken to two contacts at the club today, and there is nothing in this link.

I have put this to him on twitter, interested to see his response

My tweet: "I'm confused, your article suggests there may be something in it by saying we face competition. Is this a lost cause or not then?"

Edit: Boden's response: "detail has all come from Italy end. Sources there claiming there is an offer. But I've had shakes of the head at this end 1/2"

"who to believe basically? Transfers are all a game. Inter look keen to sell, hence the speculation 2/2"

As you well know you can interpret statistics in many different way

I red once that Boden talks 14.75 different types of bo-llocks....which if extrapolated by the normal journalistic formula of :

bo-ollocks talk types multiplied by rumour correction rate and divided by his head circumfarence = job at Burnley Express.
