Landline phones

Post by LoveCurryPies » Sun Jan 08, 2017 12:06 am

Has anyone found a stylish landline phone?

Most of the current phones seem to resemble cheap mobile phones from 15 years ago. B&O do stylish but are there any other companies?

I used to like the 70's trim phone but I'm not looking for pastiche.

Maybe landline phones are a thing of the past?

Incredibly, I was given a new landline phone as a Christmas present!

I haven't taken it out of it's box yet!

Don't buy the B & O ones - I had a set of 4 around the house and they have all given up the ghost in 4 years - a lot of money for poor longevity - given that they haven't been used that much

I've got one that you can make phone calls on. I don't know if it's stylish, because I've never tried wearing it on a night out.

Not a mobile phone. Just one to plug into the phone socket at home.

Mine certainly doesn't get used very much now - not sure why I bother keeping it to be honest.

The only calls I get on my landline are from my mum. However, she has recently mastered the art of texting.....i think I prefer her calling on the landline :/

For those wanting rid, you can get broadband only from Virgin, they try to talk you into keeping line rental, even saying it's a £1 cheaper. Have not missed landline at all.

Virgin miss a massive trick in a marketing sense there for me. All other ADSL broadband providers require the phone line, but Virgin don't. They could steal a march by actually properly pushing that fact rather than tying it all up with Broadband and TV.

Will landlines eventually become a thing of the past?

They already have become a thing of the past. I don’t have anyone’s landline number, other than parents.

We don't really use ours, when it does ring we know it's either one of our elderly friends or an automated call. I think the only reason we keep it is because we have BT's broadband. Last time I was in Currys, well over twelve months ago they had a reasonable collection of landline phones.

Something you're forced into having if you want Internet and WiFi.

Wow. This is a blast from the past.

I have internet and WiFi but don’t have a landline phone.

You don’t need a physical phone, only a landline

And even then, there are some that don’t require it
