Recalling loan players

Post by dermotdermot » Sun Jan 08, 2017 6:21 pm

How come Chelsea can recall Ake from his season long loan with Bournemouth and Arsenal apparently can't recall Wilshire from his season long loan with..........err, Bournemouth?

Depends if clauses were put in the deals I suppose.

If there isn't a clause then the club who've loaned the player would have to agree to cut it short.

There was probably a clause in Ake's loan deal allowing Chelsea to take him back.

I think it has been answered above. If a player moves on a season long loan then it can be ended by the loaning club (in this case Chelsea) if there was a clause in the deal. I'm assuming, therefore, that Arsenal didn't have such a clause in when they loaned out Wilshire although I'm not so sure they would want to recall him.

Bit of a blow for Eddie this with Simon Francis now suspended for another 2 games as well.

They are going to have to score a lot of goals to get points as they will continue to concede in the short term.

Why have Chelsea recalled Ake? Why not let him play the full season?

Presumably because they think they might use him at some point during the remainder of the season.

Couple of fair loan signings though, Ake and Wilshire. Come on, Sean, get your finger out.

Sure I read a recent quote from Wenger saying he could use Wilshere given current midfield injuries

Wenger would never admit he'd made an error in not including the recall clause
