Who else you going to play if JBG Arfield and Boyd are doubtful?

Burnley fans are quick to turn on players - suddenly you would think Kightly wasn't capable of playing football

Well said. Earnt the respect from his teammates and manager last season. Plenty mentioned his name out of the full group at the end of last season for sticking to it even though he never featured. Did very well at this level 2 years ago. Unleash him and let him tear um a new one.

He started earlier this season I'm pretty sure, must have been to cover a knock or injury.

Given Kightly's lack of football for the last couple of years I think it'd be fair to raise an eyebrow if he was in the side. Played an important part in our first SD promotion, but since then? Suspect that as long as Boyd is fit enough he'll play and with Dyche talking up Hendrick as a wide option it'll probably be those two. He's pulled a couple of surprises this season though, so who knows.

Have kept it under wraps purposefully last few weeks - Might drop it coming up to the game mate.

My point about when Kightly last played was going to be that he hasn't done anything to say he shouldnt have a spot in the team when needed.

When he has been called upon he has done his job well and not disrupted the team when not on the pitch.

He is an excellent player for us to have as back up.

Sorry Dark Cloud but Kightly hasn't played a game in 5 years, and that's why Keane gets the nod.

I'd go Marney for Barton I think, but otherwise agree with this. Marney's energy and pressing are hugely important to us at home, and Barton is still getting back to top speed.

However, one argument for Barton is that Southampton use the space between defence and midfield very well - Rodriguez has become very adept at dropping off as a loan striker, and Redmond and Tadic work very well in there too. But if Barton comes in for anyone i think it might be Defour rather than Marney.

I'm surprised no one as yet has gone for Barnes playing wide.

Its not a bad option, but Barnes is the striker options who best slots back into midfield, so i'd sooner leave him there.

I'm glad Kightly got into that 5 man mid - even if it's out of position.

Fully agree.
I like him, another who gives his all and played a major role in Mr Dyche first season with some very important goals.

Played well enough when called upon at Stoke, Newcastle and United in the prem.
He might just have that unknown factor if he starts. We set up the same every game. He will break that mould and drive into the box or dead ball line. Could be a blessing..

I suspect neither Barton or Tarks will be in the starting line up and SD may well be hoping not to have to use them from the bench as they'll be in the frame for starting on Tuesday.
