Rovers demise bad for the game.
Former premier league winners in league 1? Shouldn't be allowed. We should be protected like a grade listed building would be. The fa should hang their heads in shame for their neglect..

You're just returning to a more natural level for a club of Rovers size.
It could be argued that Rovers are now punching above their weight, and leagues 1/2 would be a more fitting level for them.
Remember the days before uncle Jack, well they're coming back, dark days are on the horizon.

Can't say as anyone from Blackburn was thinking the same when Burnley were facing extinction, despite us having won the league some 20-odd years previous.
Think of it in those terms and you might see why no one has any sympathy for your plight.
Well, that and that it's a huge over reaction to your potential drop to the third tier.

Where's the bell end 'loadsamoney' when you need him, I remember him well, coming on Claret forums with the rest of his gloating chums, where have they all gone ?
And what are we left with ? sad, lonely, saxo. Ah, what a shame. Popping up on here, cos even the fiddling bas turds on BRFC cant be doin' wi' 'im.
I think he's got a point though, I mean, I remember well all the sympathy from down the road when we nearly went out of existence. Not. So here it is saxo, we could not be happier to see you lot grovelling around with that buck tooth clown spouting his usual verbal diarrhoea, whilst you sink into oblivion. Its marvellous.
And in any case, you don't even attend any more do you ? plastic scouser, plastic bas turn. Sad.

They're slowly disappearing on FB too.
You get the odd one trying to claim all Burnley fans are bitter, but it does get pointed out to them that due to the role reversal they're the bitter ones.
They used to be around all the time, but with each passing week that we aren't in the relegation zone whilst they are, their appearances on FB are becoming further apart for a lot of them.

A football club going bust and disappearing, leaving only memories would be the massive wake up call the game needs.
And it would be hilarious as well

Bad for town centres BHS going under, Comet, etc, mis-management, nobody runs to their Aid, there was no sympathy in 1987 before we played Orient, so whats new. You employ a manager with 3 relegations on his CV, soon to be 4 no doubt, the ear-ache Rovers Supporters have given out Planes flying over the Turf in your Glory Days , well now you must face up to your Demise. Rovers fate lies with the owners Venkys, not good we know, but to ask for any sympathy from us, Happy Days..

I suspect we will all miss them in a strange sort of way. Lets hope its a long drawn out demise - 2 or 3 years in League 1 followed by a few years in League 2. That would give us several years of comedy - after that who knows??claretdom wrote:They say you don't realise how much you miss something til it has gone.

In fairness to loadsamoney, he did come on here on May 2 and congratulate us on going up.
Re: Rovers demise bad for the game.
Rovers' demise is brilliant for the game.
It just shows that a club which gets elevated way above their true level based on one very rich benefactor can fall back to where they were when that money dries up.
If Sheikh Mansour dies and doesn't leave enough money to City then they'll fall back to their level of lower end of PL.
If Abramovich dies and doesn't leave enough money to Chelsea then they'll fall back to their level of middle of PL.
Jack Walker died and didn't leave enough money to Blackburn so they're falling back to their level of 2nd/3rd tier.
It may be the case that Walker did leave enough money to Blackburn, however the club frittered it away on absolute wasters on the playing staff, and substantially discounting ticket prices in a desperate attempt to keep the the fickle glory supporters they'd gained between 1992 and 1995 from going back to supporting Man United or Liverpool.
Blackburn fans love to hate the Venkys, but they're too blind to see that without the Venky's pumping in millions upon millions to keep the club going, they're pretty much screwed. Venkys are the electricity powering the life support machine on which the feeble body of Blackburn Rovers lays. If the plug gets pulled, it's game over.
It's about time their fans realised this and started supporting them, and stop acting like such ungrateful little bast*rds. If they don't like it, they should raise some money themselves, including the £40m or whatever it is the club needs each season over and above what it brings in on its own.
They're not going to do that though, because they're too thick.
Keep the 20-man lock-ins in the Blackburn End, keep the youtube videos coming, keep saying it's a conspiracy by a group of agents, keep saying you've got the paperwork which will bring it all crashing down, keep booing Coyle, keep doing whatever you want which makes you feel as though you're doing something to help your club. We love it, because you're not helping your club at all. You're sliding back down the league ladder like it was a snake, and you're not doing a single thing to turn it around.
The last few verses of No Nay Never are coming true, and it's brilliant. F*ck off Bast*rds.
Ewood's now empty, its getting knocked down,
They play their home games on a piece of waste ground,
Coyle looks round and says something's not right,
Cos there's far more players than supporters in sight.
Five years have now passed and Burnley rule supreme,
The league and the cup have been won by our team,
The b*st*rds are bankrupt and long since have died,
And Coyle sweeps up down on Burnley's Longside.

Their demise is good for game. It's a great example of what can happen if you over stretch yourself as a club. Surely there are clubs up and down the land who have learnt from them. They're doing everyone else a great service.

Well I think it is a bad thing that small town teams have been crushed by financial muscle, rather than their real ability. This happened to us and we are fortunately back where we used to belong - now we hang on for grim death and hope. football is less about community and more about ultra funding and it has led to many once famous town teams being pushed to the lower leagues or financially crippled.

Re: Rovers demise bad for the game.
But Blackburn aren't being crushed by financial muscle. They've been getting £20 million per year of Venky's for years. It's financial incompetence, to a degree that beggars belief, that's crushing them.IanMcL wrote:Well I think it is a bad thing that small town teams have been crushed by financial muscle, rather than their real ability. Those accounts that they've just published - whether it's last year or the year before I don't know, but whichever it was they paid wages of £28m in a year. That's just £1m less than we paid in wages in the Premier Leage, and I suspect it's a lot more than we paid last season. Who are they paying it to? What are they getting for the money?

They also had 20 years of Premier League money. They have literally spent hundreds of millions over the last 25 years only to end up back where they were before Walker took over...bottom of the second division, broke, and playing in front of a 3/4 empty ground.
