Betting on Southampton Game

Post by tybfc » Fri Jan 13, 2017 9:14 am

Joey - don't read this!

Just had a quick look on Betfair where Burnley are currently 11/4 for a home win which seem massive odds given our home record and Southampton are only a point in front of us.

The visitors are 5/4 favourites.

Mortgage gone on. Don't tell the wife.

Seems a generous price, but I never bet on a game involving us. Last time I did we got battered

This.

Only bet on Burnley losing - that way if we do lose, you still come away with a profit. Hence, why I stuck a bet on us NOT going up at odds of 4/1.

Southampton lost three in a row in the league and they're only a point above us. Been some weird prices on us lately (2/1 v Boro was a gift) and this is another.

Probably on the back of a great display against Liverpool

Their previous bad run was over Christmas / new year period which is notoriously difficult for betting with many teams resting players...suspensions kicking in and some teams getting unlucky with fixture dates.

Saints have a very good team.

The odds do look attractive for a burnley win considering our brilliant home form but the bookies ain't stupid.

A draw is not a bad result for us either - and few people tend to back that

I am another in the "never back your own team" camp but I have been telling anyone who'll listen that having a tenner on us in every home game is a great way to make money. We're always odds against no matter who we play, and against the top teams we're 8 or 9 to 1.

By contrast, Swansea are only 6s to beat Arsenal this weekend despite being bottom of the league!

As long as the bookies continue to underestimate us the dispassionate should continue to take advantage.

We barely got a kick the last time we played them, seem fair odds.

Regardless of the result tomorrow those odds are simply incorrect.

Burnley win & Boro win @10/1 Paddy Power. Not bad odds for a double.

Southampton played very, very well midweek. They have pace (Redmond) guile (Tadic) and a good defence especially with van Dijk in excellent form. The bookies rarely get the odds wrong
It'll be a very tough game, I'd be happy to avoid defeat tomorrow
(absolutely delighted with a win though !)
