Well he's a good player alright..
Do Leeds have decent cover for him?
- are the Yorkshire football giants relatively short of brass at this time or not?

I would rather have Taylor than Nagatomo. It's vital we have a left footed full back to overlap the narrow midfield we play with.

If we signed Taylor it would be as big a signing as Gray. He's quality.

If its anything to do with that Clarets Turf on twitter, they have a pretty unique 100% wrong transfer record with us.
And they always fall for the ones who change one letter in "Burnleyofficial" and announce a signing

I'd still prefer Brady more forward thinking. Think Ward holds his own at left back, very rarely gets skinned.
Can we have them both, if Nagatomo wants more money good luck to him. Ciao

FWIW Lids have already said he's not for sale in this window, so the fee will need to be large to get past first base.

Definitely one of our best signing in recent years. Exactly what we need to try and do moving forwards. I know it's much harder now to get these future gems from the Championship, but hopefully we can do it again.

Taylor, Tarky, Brownhill all the exact type of signings we should be making, they don’t always work but there’s a good chance you’ll double your money on them if they work out.

Amazing to remember we got CT for what £7.5m, that's chicken feed in the modern market, and should he be courted by the bigger clubs, we can easily quote £25/30m, not that I want him to go anywhere, him and Dwight on the left are a great duo, and both will hopefully play a huge role in this and the coming seasons for BFC.

Re: Charlie taylor
Great bit of business, this. A most excellent left back... and one that should be in the England squad but for that dickhead GS insisting on playing players out of position just because of their name...every cloud and all that.
Lets just hope that our really good players continue to play under the radar and we keep them.

To think there used to be a poster on here, Hibsclaret I think it was, who used to absolutely slate Charlie Taylor at every opportunity on almost every thread. It was totally bizarre back then, but looking at the player he's turned into now...

Slate Charlie Taylor is being very kind to hibs.
The song Stan by Eminem was based on his feelings for Ward

Hibsclaret still posts on here, so I don’t think they have any relation to Stephen Ward.

I think it’s completely fair to say that for a good half a season Taylor was struggling. Teams often targeted our left hand side and he was at fault for countless goals due to being out of position. Over the past two seasons though he’s been immense.
Those views from a few years ago were totally justified Hibsclaret so I wouldn’t worry about a couple of
Keyboard warriors.

Re: Charlie taylor
I might be wrong but hibsclaret has regularly scored Taylor well in the player ratings over the last 18 months and has more than once suggested that they do rate Taylor.
I thought the criticism of Taylor was a bit unfair in the early days and thought they saw Ward as being better than he was but it’s just an opinion.
Taylor is quality, for what it’s worth. Considering I’d rather have 2 players who can naturally play a position in the England squad, he should be in with a shot (behind Chilwell).

The best comparison is the Wolves game with Hart in goal and the one the other night. Chalk and cheese doesn’t even do it justice....

Re: Charlie taylor
I didn’t see the wolves game but have watched every other game this season , Taylor is nowhere near as good as Ward was going forward for us and one assist doesn’t change that I’m afraid , not saying he can’t get there but talk of playing for England soon are way off the mark as Chilwell is miles ahead in ability.
Re: Charlie taylor
Taylor might not be as good as Chilwell going forward but he is far better at defending. Arguably one of the best defenders at blocking shots in the PL.Giftonsnoidea wrote: ↑Thu Dec 24, 2020 11:00 amI didn’t see the wolves game but have watched every other game this season , Taylor is nowhere near as good as Ward was going forward for us and one assist doesn’t change that I’m afraid , not saying he can’t get there but talk of playing for England soon are way off the mark as Chilwell is miles ahead in ability.

Taylor is better than ward going forwards. Taylor is quicker, stronger and bombs forward in a way ward simply couldn’t. Ward was a tidy footballer but Taylor is a huge upgrade.
Taylor has at least 2 assists this season as well.

He really isn’t in my opinion, what are you basing this on, he passes back more often than not and his crosses are usually wayward to say the least. Ward was top drawer for us, and I was guttted when he left; but I am ready to admit SD got it completely right. We had seen the best of Ward and Taylor’s best I am confident remains in the future, hopefully with BFC,

Agree, Taylor still has some distance to go before reaching wards optimum level, the signs are promising though with more progression that could happen but it certainly hasn’t happened yet.Giftonsnoidea wrote: ↑Thu Dec 24, 2020 12:32 pmHe really isn’t in my opinion, what are you basing this on, he passes back more often than not and his crosses are usually wayward to say the least. Taylor is nowhere near the level of Ward in our 7th place finish season where Ward was superb virtually every game.
However to put the assists and goals into context, if my numbers are correct Ward has played 171 PL games in total, thus far Taylor has only played 86, so pretty much half, and yet he's already got more than half the assists Stephen Ward boasted, plus didn't Ward take a fair amount of our set-pieces, so that must have bumped his assist tally up a fair whack, and you neglect to mention Charlie's great link up with Dwight down our left side, if we could get such a partnership down the right we'd be laughing, I do agree with you that Taylor needs to improve his goal tally, on that stat you win the argument right now, but he brings so much to our overall play that he can be forgiven for now, and lastly the most crucial aspect Taylor is still improving, Ward the great servant that he was, had seen his best days, and we were right to let him go when we did.

Re: Charlie taylor
Worth noting that Taylor is improving all the time and almost impossible to compare stats with only a 50% “ on field comparison “ Though Ward was a smart defender he’s nowhere near as good at close control ,crossing or interlinking wing play ( though he could land the odd beauty) Taylor is also a lot more athletic and quicker than Wardy with more inteligent defence .He can also take on very good wingers and cut out crosses marginally better . Can’t deny Ward was excellent for us though and always enjoyed his commitment and was integral part of the “ 7th place “ team . Oh what we’d give for Defour , peak Cork or a Joey B right now .
Merry Xmas

No worries guys just wanted to get a bit of balance to the over the top praise on here.
I agree he’s improving and thank god we don’t have Jordan or Easton at left back anymore, we had a lot more to complain about only a few years ago. If he can put more crosses in like the one against Wolves then yes he will be knocking on GS’s door.

Ward was immense. Class player. Brilliant for us.
Taylor is now in that bracket and has been for 18 months. Took a while to warm up. Now a powerful machine. Blocks are up there with Mee and Tarks. Awesome.
Hibs views were fine and accurate enough.

Re: Charlie taylor
Ward was an excellent player. Taylor is an excellent player. Neither was streets ahead of the other, and I have no interest in nit-picking the stats to try and pick one over t'other.
If at some point I pick my all time Burnley XI, including only those players I have seen, then one will be in the team and the other will be sub. Brian Easton, it is fair to say, will not challenge for selection. Sorry Brian.
(I might consider Les Thompson! )

He has grown into the team and is now a permanent fixture. He always surprises me with an immense turn of speed. As a full back he never gets a roasting and there are some formidable wing men in the PL
Sadly he is starting to get recognised-hope we can keep him
