Post by Goobs » Fri Jan 13, 2017 11:53 pm

Are you able to pay on the gate on Tuesday or will I need to go and buy a ticket beforehand?

no 'cash-only' turnstiles

...got to obtain ticket from ticket outlet (at rear of Claret Store) prior to match

or order online and pick up ticket from collection window on Harry Potts Way

good luck!

If we get past the third round the club are hoping to introduce the option to 3D print your own seat for the game against Bristol City or Fleetwood Town. They're currently having difficulties with the Print a Seat for a Friend option but hopefully this will be resolved in good time.

Sunderland use a barcode entry system but unmanned i.e. you don't hand over the ticket to a steward to scan like we do but scan it yourself, but they put on a cash turnstile for away fans last week didn't they?

Not on the gate but at the Ticket Office.

Queues at the ticket may be the factor that mean I don't bother.

Lack of a cash turnstile will probably mean I won't bother. Time is tight and I don't know if I can make it in time.

And yes, Sunderland did provide a cash turnstile.

Not strictly, you still had to buy a ticket. What they do have at Sunderland, which we don't, is a turnstile that also incorporates a ticket office terminal which allows them to also sell tickets. I don't know the answer but I wouldn't think there are many, if any, grounds in the Premier League that will now accept cash at the turnstile.

There club tried that a couple of years ago for a friendly, but ended up with a situation where the same seat was sold twice.

I took my seat early, and someone else turned up 5 minutes before kick off with a print at home ticket for the same seat. There were several other examples across the stand that I could see stewards trying to resolve.

One of the biggest problems we had with 'print your own' was fans selecting that option and then turning up on match day to collect tickets having not printed them. Some then complained to the ticket office staff asking them how they could print them when they didn't have a printer.

Joined this forum having read with interest for a few months. Having to pay on myself today I envisaged issues.

Got to the turnstile and my stub was nowhere to be seen on the ticket. Rung my partner to check whether it had fell in the house - No.
Retraced my steps - nothing.

Got to the 'marquee' to buy a new ticket and what a shambles. Huge queue of people who could / should have been able to pay on the gate. All missing the game. All getting wet. All annoyed.

The bloke in front of me is in the queue for the same reason as me - his stub had fell off. Luckily I now realised it might be a bigger problem and not just a mistake on my part. Bloke in question had driven from Slough for the game only to have to queue again to buy a replacement. Then it turns out at least ten of us had the same issue. The tickets must have been already loose / damaged.

Credit to the club, the two ladies who were 'manning' the marquee quickly sorted our issue out and acknowledged there was an issue with some of the tickets and they let us all in swiftly and efficiently. However there was a huge queue of people with cash having to queue up to buy a ticket before queuing up to enter with said ticket.

The system / process has gone backwards. Crazy in this day and age.

If they don't trust turnstile staff to handle cash, just a thought but there is a new concept called contactless...

Hopefully they can sort this out as this will put more walks ons off in the future.

How do you lose the stub off the ticket? I've never, ever done that?

Nor me. Which leads me to think it either wasn't on at all or was very loose. I was on the way to buy a new ticket and there were at least ten people who had the same issue at the ticket office. So it was either very strange coincidence or they were a damaged batch.

Credit to the staff they were great. Sorted it out no problem. Could have insisted we queued and bought another. The queue for tickets was a different matter. Unnecessary especially / even more so in this day and age.

We have gone back to the 1970's!

Two questions.

Who actually is supposed to be in charge of the ticket office / turnstiles and do they have any idea what they are doing?

Answers (A) I don't know (B) No and a very big no. We are light years away from swipe card technology. Employ somebody who knows what to do.

Still don't get why the season cards couldn't just be uploaded with a cup ticket

And if you can't trust turnstile operators to swap cash for a pile of pre printed tickets then maybe you should use a more reputable employment agency

If there is an issue with cash why not simply put a direct employee on that turnstile?

What put each one of the 6 warm people in the ticket office on a cold turnstile in each part of the ground with pre printed tickets?

Sounds like a genius idea, but I'm sure they'll be a technical issue somewhere..
