Names on shirts
Something that has bugged me for a while.
Why, oh why, are some foreign players allowed to have their first name on their shirts ?
Just imagine if British players were allowed to do the same, with Mick, Dave. Stan, Pete etc
on their shirts.

Re: Names on shirts
Is it not a players choice anyway? I'd love to see it being really formal.

I'm taking my 'Patrick Bamford' shirt back to the club shop on Monday!

"Players are allowed whatever they want (within reason I'm sure) as their name. Not just foreign players."
I can't believe that's true as I don't ever recall a Dave, Mick etc featuring on a shirt. The nearest is Dele Alli
I suppose ! However I stand to be corrected.

Re: Names on shirts
Didn't Ravel Morrison have his first name for a bit?

Re: Names on shirts
English players are allowed to do that.
Above is Tyrone Mears. Ravel Morrison is another one that does it.
This should belong with the multiculturalism thread.
Other cultures place different values on naming styles.
Spanish use both parents names with the paternal taking precedence.
Scandinavians nearly always take their fathers name as their surname: JBG is literally Gudmunds son.
Brazilians use affectionate nicknames which are gained during childhood.
Don't work yourself up about it, unless you're one of those oddballs that believes our league would be better without foreign influence and we should get rid of them all.

Re: Names on shirts
Deli Alli has his first name on the back now.
The name on the shirt has to be registered and then can't be changed in during the campaign. Neil Rudduck was fined £500 for changing the name on his shirt to Razer for one game.

Be careful for what you wish for. A true story from a few years back.
A bloke at work was in the club shop with his lad buying him a Burnley shirt. The shirt was about £20 then and the lad asked if he could have a name on it, after confirming that each letter cost £1.50 he agreed and asked which name he wanted. The lad said "Dimitrios Papadopoulos".

Re: Names on shirts
Don't think they charge per letter any more for that reason else Mee would be the biggest seller

That's why Cox & Cook were popular
