Why so many Norweigians?
There were literally dozens of them there yesterday.
I wasn't aware our fan base there was so popular!
Anyone know why?

well firstly one would have to have a sense of humour to write such a gem, you on the other hand are devoid of such abilities therefore rendering your comment invalid. I suggest you stick to feverish, over reactionary drivel and copied opinions.fidelcastro wrote:Stick to being fickle... it's better than your attempts at comedy.

Don't know about all those which you're referring to yesterday but Helge, who is from Bergen, comes over for every home game and quite a few of our away games!fidelcastro wrote:There were literally dozens of them there yesterday.

Re: Why so many Norweigians?
There were a couple over a few weeks ago who were probably in their mid 20s in the Princess Royal. Spoke to them after the game and they said how they liked how Burnley had a "proper team" that was supported by locals and were underdogs.
They'd followed for years and were quite knowledgable too and said they came over 5/6 times a year for a game.

Does anybody know if the lads from Belfast still come over?
I remember a good 20 of them coming. Usually at the start of a season. They were Glentoran fans. Seem to remember somebody posting a picture of a burnley flag behind the goals at Glentorans ground a couple of years ago.

Re: Why so many Norweigians?
Way back in August 2001, I was sat next to a Norwegian fan...tonked by Man City 2-4.
Anyway, got round to asking why did he support Burnley and the relatively simple answer was down to tv exposure in Norway. They got to see pretty much all the lower league games on the box and that's how they became aware of us. They would look at the fixture list and try to fit a holiday that allowed them to see as many games as possible over a short period, not exclusively our games. Bizarrely that weekend I did a fair number of miles myself, Bradford City on the friday, Ross County on the saturday (a horse faced jerk scored against Ross, his name chokes in my throat), Dundee United On Sunday, Us on the monday.
I assume other clubs have similar stories, but I don't honestly care.

Re: Why so many Norweigians?
I know quite a few of the Norwegian Clarets, one of them stays with me when he comes over for games. They have been supporting Burnley for a number of years. One of the reasons they chose Burnley to support was because most of the Norwegians like to support Liverpool Man U Celtic and other trophy hunting clubs and they wanted to support a team other than them. They're spread about different areas, but mainly made friendships by meeting up on trips over to games.
With us they saw our team as underdogs and different in that we're a small club in comparison, but a club with a proud tradition and a loyal fan base. They have their own Clarets web site http://www.burnleyfc.no" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. which is presently a little behind with info, as the editor moved house just before Xmas and as yet his new home is without broadband. The one thing you quickly learn not to do in their company is try and drink round for round with them. I can drink a lot, but I've more than met my match drinking with them lads.

Hi spades! Hope all is well with You and youre family. Burnley are a part of me, and have been for many years. God only knows why! I did'nt choose to follow The Clarets, the club chose me..
All games online or on TV this season, but I miss the threads. I'll be on come tuesday.. I'm melancholic by nature, and optimistic by choice .

Got chatting to a couple in the 21 club before the Bournemouth game. They were united fans who were doing the Burnley game as part of a football weekend. United were playing on the Sunday.

Don't know if anyone has mentioned it - have you seen the price of drink in Norway?
And, of course, post-referendum, a weekend in Burnley can be a lot cheaper than a w/end in Oslo.
