Have we peaked?
Have we peaked?
Looking at the league table now, is 10th the best we'll do this season? Maybe 9th?
Re: Have we peaked?
Who knows but think we've already been as high as 9th.
Re: Have we peaked?
Probably, honestly, yes.

Re: Have we peaked?
We may not get any higher, however, I'm sure that we would settle for finishing where we are at present.
Our form has improved markedly over the last 7 fixtures after a steady start to the season.
First 7 games we won 2 drew 1 and lost 4 scoring 5 and conceding 9 and gaining 7 points ---- 5 of those games were at home
Second 7 games we won 2 drew 1 and lost 4 scoring 7 and conceding 14 and gaining 7 points ---3 of those games were at home
Third 7 games we won 4 drew 0 and lost 3 scoring 11 and conceding 8 and gaining 12 points --4 of those games were at home
The next run of 7 games includes just 2 home games so it will be interesting to see how these turn out, however, 6 of our losses this season have been by 1 goal so, if we can turn these sort of games into draws it will stand us in good stead.

After 10 games, we'd got 11 points.
After 10 more games we'd got a further 12 points.

I like those stats Ashy. Another thing to consider is who we have played and still have to play away from home. I'm sure we'll pick up quite a few away points from now on.

Re: Have we peaked?
We'll have peaked in my lifetime of following Burnley if we finish 17th in May. A lot of tough points need to be ground out before then.

Position wise, potentially
Form wise... there is more to come

Re: Have we peaked?
I don't think we'll get the same number of points in the second 19 games than we accumulated ove the first 19. But fortunately, I don't think we need to.

Re: Have we peaked?
It's a good question and who knows, but these are heady times for sure.
Four home wins on the bounce and is it six out of the last seven at home, truly remarkable stuff which I'm not even sure we equalled last season in the Championship.
I well remember walking away from the Turf after Scotty's late winner against Everton and thinking great we've won a big home game and now after Saturday it's almost like we're expecting to win at home. Confidence must be sky high now and long may it continue.

royboy --we had a run of 5 successive home wins starting with the 4-1 against Derby on 25 January and ending with the 1-0 against Rovers on 5 March 2016. Our next home game was against Wolves which we drew 1-1.

Point taken Ashy, but a slightly different level of opposition this time I think you'll agree.

Re: Have we peaked?
Depends on our defence remaining resilient and free from injury, they are the bedrock of our success.

Re: Have we peaked?
royboy -- definitely agree with that. It would be great to eclipse that run by winning our next two home games against Leicester and Chelsea!

Re: Have we peaked?
Our goal was to stay up.
It'd take a huge collapse to get sucked into the bottom three now.
Also believe we've a good chance of improving our away form stats this next couple of months.
We just aren't as 'green' as last time.
Not beyond the rediculous we could finish 12th, and build from there.

That was the main issue in '61/'62. After we'd beaten Fulham in the semi-final replay key injuries to the likes of Brian Miller and Gordon Harris disrupted a settled side at a vital time.

What if we beat Arsenal (which, yes is unlikely, but not impossible)?
Will we still be asking the same question?

Re: Have we peaked?
I'm not by any stretch saying we've been lucky, but it's a bit one sided to say "if we could turn those games we've lost by a goal into a point..." We've rarely won by a margin greater than a single goal, and to be honest there are some games we might have just as easily drawn or lost. It works both ways.
I'd be astounded if we managed to finish around 10th position, and it's certainly not impossible, but we'll need to keep on improving. The goal is to stay up, and if we do that then everyone can be proud as punch.

Re: Have we peaked?
My question isn't implying anything; 17th place would be just fine for me. When you look at the vast majority of the teams above us, finishing in this vicinity would be an amazing achievement.
