Rule changes

Post by fidelcastro » Mon Jan 16, 2017 4:59 pm

Not restricted to just the laws of the game on the pitch, what rules in the game of football would you like to see changed?

I'd like to see a ban on undisclosed transfer fees. :)

I'm sure people will have many more suggestions. :)

Bans or fines that can be given after a game has been played when a player has been caught deliberately diving.

trainers allowed on whilst the game keeps going unless very serious injury or player down is seroiusly interferring with play (like in rugby ). this is mainly to cut out faking. Anyone guilty of abusing new law to be given a large ban

similar ban for faking head injuries to try and get someone carded.

head camaras for refs and linesmen.

Player has to stay off the pitch for 5mins if they have been "treated" following the referee stoping the game for no reason ala Bertrand on Saturday

When a free kick is awarded and following treatment, the fouled player is allowed on the field of play BEFORE the kick is taken.
The penalised player should be the one off the pitch until after the kick is taken.

Not really a rule change but when the ref is speaking to a player - ONLY that player and captains from both teams allowed to speak to the referee - if anyone elae gets involved then a yellow card no matter if it's a quick comment or whether they're waxing lyrical.

Always hated players surrounding a ref constantly over decisions.

Can we change that unwritten rule that says the defender is allowed to practically wrestle the attacker to the ground in order to shepherd the ball out of play, but only at their own goal line. The same manoeuvre on the touchlines or opposite goal line are fouls.

I'm sure it was Mo Camara that gave away a penalty when he shielded the ball out.

Was a very odd decision at the time as I'd never (and cant recall since) seen it being given after that as a penalty.

If enough of the home team supporters shout that the referee is **** then he should be substituted for the 4th official - Tierney would have been off the pitch for allowing a free kick on the touch line, to be taken by Forster inside the penalty area !!!!!

More advantage time given to see whether there is a genuine advantage. If a shot is taken and missed then play would be brought back. I'd probably put a time limit on advantages, say 10 seconds play.

1). The FA/referee should be able to retract a yellow card after the game if they feel fit.

2). The FA/referee should be able to change/retract decisions even if the referee saw the incident during the game

For number 1, I'm not talking about having every yellow card but I believe that currently only red cards can be rescinded so if someone gets 2 yellows of which one was undeserved/incorrect decision, then the club cannot appeal the red card after the game.

For number 2 I think it's crazy that if a referee thinks that he sees an incident then the decision cannot be changed after the game - e.g. horrific foul which he only gives a yellow card for which on video review he realises should have been a red etc.

It might have looked nasty on the replay but it was clear that there was nothing wrong with him. They should ONLY blow up for a head injury or if the bone is sticking out of the leg etc!

He chose to stay down playing our players onside, the ref shouldn't have interfered with that!

This is being tried in a number of leagues up and down the country mainly in kids football.
However some adult leagues have tried it and it kills the game and then the ref gets complained at for playing 10 min stoppages.
3 from 5 is plenty

It used to be called obstruction.

I would allow 2 footed tackles from the attacking team on the player obstructing/ shepherding the ball out

When the team on the ball have to kick it out of play so an injured opposition player can receive treatment the team playing the ball out should be allowed to take the resulting throw in. See how many stay down then if you have a Rory Delap or Greg Halford playing for you...

The 4th official at any game Burnley are playing in has to agree with Sean Dyche.

The 4th official then tells the referee what he should have done and the play is brought back.

I don't get why subs take so long. as soon as 1 comes off the other should be able to come on. no need to stop the game. again as rugby union. rule out of date now there is a 4th official.

also do the same as rugby for timekeeping. with ref calling time out as and when. clock in stadiam to show all how long left and then play on until deadball at the end of each half.

Kick -ins instead of throw-ins.
Half time interval only 10 mins (like it used to be) rather than 15
Moving a free kick 10 yards forward for excessive arguing (I know they tried that but it didn't seem to catch on for some reason)

Retrospective action taken against divers.
If someone's going to fall over holding their head, I'm expecting to see a bruise or cut of some sort.
If its proven a player has clearly dived before a player has touched them, none of this anticipating the foul malarky, then hand them a 1 match ban.

On the flip side, if officials are continuously conned then maybe they need some extra training to help them out.
If that doesn't work they need resting for a bit.

No subs in the last 10mins unless a player is injured.

Serious suggestion: retrospective punishment for diving.

Silly suggestion: a handicap system so teams with a lower value team have a goal (or more) start.

Flying subs, as mentioned above, current system is far to slow.

No substitutions in last 10 minutes, at all. This is merely used as a time wasting exercise and ruins what should be the most dramatic segment of the drama.

If the free kick is say 11 yards outside the penalty area a very good opportunity to get the ball up and back down and into the goal.
If free kick marched forwards to edge of box very difficult to score and actually less of an advantage to the foules team.

What constitutes an injury ?
Referees are nit medical experts.
We see enough feigning of injury as it is. This will only encourage more. If an assessment is needed surely wastes even more time than allowing the sub to take place no matter how slow it is

Instant red card for any player waving an imaginary card.
Yellow card for simulation anywhere on the pitch except the penalty area which should be red.

1. The referee having the ability to call "time off" when there is an injury or other stoppage in play (such as substitutes) to stop the clock and "time on" when play resumes to restart it (as in rugby). Then as soon as 45 minutes is up for the half, the full time whistle blows as soon as the ball goes out of play.
2. Limit the number of professional players a club can have registered to prevent the big clubs stockpiling all the young talent.

Fair comment dp, maybe the fouled team could be given the option to move the ball forward up to 10 yards or leave it as it is.

When a player is fouled and has to leave the pitch for treatment, the player committing the foul has to leave the pitch for the same length of time .

Kick-ins rather than throw-ins.
Retrospective red cards when a yellow has been awarded.
Video appeals - one per half. If the appeal is upheld then the side still has an appeal.
Bookings for players stepping over/rubbing out the spray on foam at free kicks.

Players to receive treatment while game is in play, rendering them not active (this will hardly happen and stop time wasting - as they'll be no advantage to faking injury)

Throw-ins can be taken in anyway, over-arm, underarm, rolled, one armed throw etc, just like goalkeeper - as long as they throw the ball from where it went out of play.

It just galls me (and others) the team committing the offence are a man better off.

You get clattered and then have to wait for the play to start AND the Ref to wave you on, when he remembers.

All I'm suggesting is change it around, not that it will ever happen!

Didnt they change the rule this season, meaning if the player gets booked for the tackle that injured a player. then the injured player no longer has to go off. I'm yet to see a ref actually get it right, mind.

For me the only rule is that physios can come on to the pitch to treat a player and the game goes on. If the physio alerts the ref to stop play, then the 'injured' player must leave the pitch must leave the pitch for a minimum of 5 mins recuperation time.

You should be allowed to take a free-kick from within 20-yards of the foul.
Unless of course you are Burnley, in which case it must be taken from exactly where the
foul occurred.

Hang on- that rule is already in force.....I apologise.

Ball in play for 70 minutes.
2 halves of 35 mins, would immediatelu stop all the timewasting.

On Saturday their player went down ,Saints kicked out of play, the guy got up and didnt even need the physio.

Boyd took the throw-in and gave it back to Saints - crazy.
