Sagna fined forty grand
Bacary Sagna has been fined £40,000 for his social media comment after the Man City v Burnley game that it was 10 against 12. What's the point? Fining him £40,000 is like fining me 10p.

I wonder if City fans will club together and pay it for him like Morecambe fans did for Jim Bentley.

There will be an article by that dickhead from the MEN reporting how this fine is racist.

Usual FA ******** - should have been at least a match ban. As much as we all brate refs for poor performances he effectively publicly said the officials were corrupt.

I'm not sure what the punishment should be but I'd make him go and do some community work on top of any fine and I'd make absolutely certain that any fine paid was used to benefit either a charity or grassroots football. I'm with babylonclaret - he very definitely questioned the referee's honesty.

Re: Sagna fined forty grand
This was public dissent, criticising the referee's impartiality and competence and undermining confidence in appointed match officials. For this he gets a slap on the wrist, hard to understand.
Sagna Fined £40K
Manchester City defender Bacary Sagna has been fined £40,000 by the Football Association after posting "10 against 12" on Instagram following a match.
The France international, 33, made the remark after his side's 2-1 Premier League win over Burnley on 2 January.
Less than his weekly wage, will he really be bothered ?!

City thinks it is too big a fine and are considering appealing
Fine should be at least two weeks wages.

Re: Sagna fined forty grand
I'd love him to recieve a ban for it - but at the same time, having played them twice this season already, I'd rather they had their strongest team out against all the teams they still have to play yet this season.
Any chance they could ban him from playing us next season?

Make him do a refereeing course and referee one game and see how he handles it.

Re: Sagna fined forty grand
City are appealing??? Appealing what, precisely?!?!
Until the club itself are clobbered for the actions of their players, and I mean by suspensions, then there really is nothing to stop a player coming out with this sort of outrageous guff on social media. And to think there is meant to be some kind of initiative to try and get players to respect officials. Laughable.

Get a grip guys can't believe someone is advocating community service for moaning about a ref. Bloody hell Dyche pretty much does it every week albeit a little more subtlety and can't even imagine some of the uproar on here ifDyche or any of our players got charged for having a dig at a ref

Re: Sagna fined forty grand
With respect, Dyche pulls up referees when they make bad decisions but I've never heard him infer that a referee has acted without integrity.
Manchester City appealing this decision is yet another occasion where they have failed to take responsibility for the poor actions of their players. How on earth they thought that appealing Fernandinho's sending off was the correct thing to do is anyone's guess. They are proving to be utterly classless.

Re: Sagna fined forty grand
He constantly implies little clubs like Burnley don't get decisions that big clubs get. Whilst subtle that's still questioning refs integrity. This board forevers goes on about refs being bias and favouring certain clubs but suddenly a player from a big club says it in reference against us and we think he should have community service. You lot do entertain me

Would rather that he had been sent off for that boot he took at Boyd. That's what he should have been fined for.
