Goodwillie..........Badwillie ?
Former Blackburn Rovers `star` David Goodwillie ordered to pay 100k pounds damages for alleged rape. Criminal charges were dropped. Strange story this one.

I think this thread and the comments from the OP are well out of order - when on earth was Goodwillie ever a star?

There is no "alleged" about the rape following the court verdict.

Re: Goodwillie..........Badwillie ?
They have not been found guilty - this was a civil rather than a criminal case. In the criminal court the standard for a guilty verdict is 'beyond reasonable doubt' while in civil matters the court makes a finding on the 'balance of probabilities' i.e. the civil court needs to be only 51% sure rather than 99.9%.
Hence the court awarded damages for the rape without being in a position to convict them of it.
OJ Simpson went through a similar process having been found not guilty of murder, was nevertheless found to have killed his wife and ordered to pay damages for it.

Another great day for Scottish "justice" then I see.
Their legal system is a joke... or is that the people that run it?

We have exactly the same system, with the same distinctions between Civil and Criminal, in England and Wales.starting_11 wrote:Another great day for Scottish "justice" then I see.
