How good were we !!

Post by Stacky_claret » Tue Jan 17, 2017 9:54 pm

Am I imagining it or were we a different class tonight
Or is it just that Sunderland were so poor

Sunderland were a big, steaming pile of pimply shyte. We, on the other hand were excellent tonight.

Nothing personal against the Mackens but their form is really encouraging for us, 11 points and we've brushed them aside at the Turf twice now. Plus they'll lose 4 players for a month in the African cup.

They're in bad shape make no mistake but we've looked a cut above them this season. We've looked a lot better than a fair few teams this season and it isn't no fluke neither.

Agree Sunderland we're p!ss poor but we were excellent. Roles the ball around superbly. That midfield three were brilliant.

Every Burnley player comes out with credit tonight, we put them to the sword without getting out of 2nd gear.

They didn't look up for it whatsoever, we looked the opposite.

We always look so good when we play three in the middle, but two up front has worked too. Nice dilemma.

Tarks was fantastic. So assured and relaxed on the ball, and phenomenal distribution. We should be finding a way for this lad to start games.

They were Sunderland. A team destined for the Championship next season.

They were Sunderland. A team who didn't want to progress.

They were Sunderland. A team who were shoite on New Year's Eve and were just as bad tonight.

They were Sunderland.... not Arsenal, Chelsea or Citeh !

Let's not get carried away ;)

How did Steven Defour play in the last 20 mins? Can we look forward to him showing his class v Arsenal for a full 90 mins (if required)?

All three players Hendrick, Barton and Defour played really well. The link up play at times was sublime. I was really impressed with the performace tonight

Tarks sometimes held onto it too long but never cause us issues.

Played some wonderful balls and he can carry it too, plus nobody will beat him in the air

The best football on the eye this season. Hendrick ,Barton and Defour were great together. Tarkowski was very calm on the ball with great passing and Darikwa got forward quickly. Entertaining.

In all fairness you were good. HOWEVER, as a few on here have already said - WE ARE ABSOLUTLEY SHOCKING.

I go to a lot of games and I've never seen 4 of our subs play before. We haven't got a decent team, let alone squad.

I think you're a good team, I hope you can kick on from where you are too.

Defour seemed to have more of a free role with Barton sitting deeper. Defour just edged my MOTM over Tarks and Darikwa who were also excellent

As comfortable a victory as I've seen in a long time. I actually thought Sunderland were worse than they were in the 4-1 - never showed any interest in trying o score a goal.

Thought we controlled the game very well, but would like to have seen us being a bit more clinical.

I too thought defour was a different class tonight
But can this be attributed to the fact that he was playing alongside Barton
Sunderland were chasing shadows for most of the game we were 1st to the first second and third balls
Hendrick and Tarkowski also deserve a bit of praise tonight
In fact the whole team do lol

I thought we played very well tonight but, as said above, Sunderland really do look like a team with no belief or fight and seem destined for the drop.

Our play was quick, decisive, confident and positive. Loved the link up play across the middle, Hendrick is looking great in his advanced role.

I felt sorry for the Sunderland fans to be honest. Very good support for a Tuesday night watching a non performance.

Whilst not much of a goal threat I thought Sunderland looked better organised than in our 4-1 win. They have always had good support home and away.

Barton and Defour looked like they had played together for years in what was a thoroughly entertaining performance.
In particular some slick inter-passing.
(Has Karanka/Puel/Koeman informed anyone how many long balls we played tonight?)

Just back via a pit stop on the A61, joined by a bus load of Mackems, not the ideal place to be, I initially thought, however they were all complimentary and wished me good luck, amidst the collective we were 'king shite and Moyes cough off home :D
Happy days

Positives all over the pitch tonight for me.
Pope - didn't have much to do but looked assured and decisive, looks to be good back up.
Darikwa - a few errant balls but overall played well, great cross for the goal, and looked to have more pace than even Andre.
Tarkowski - absolute class, have been really impressed with him, but tonight he looked head and shoulders above.
Flanagan- had a good game made a great tackle in first half, although off side had been called, but from cfs looked like we were in trouble.
Hendrick - is getting better and better and better every week.
Barton and Defour - kept the ball so well, Joey put himself about, and broke up play, Defour always looked to get on the ball, and kept trying to pick a whole in Sunderland's defence.
Vokes - good hold up play and great header for goal and assist for the second.
Gray - looked sharp and hungry when he came on.

That's my view of how good we were anyway. Sunderland were pretty poor though. Think Arsenal may offer a few different challenges, but an enjoyable evening on the Turf.
